California adds Iowa to 'travel ban' over refusal to fund gender transitions

California announced last week that it has added Iowa to the list of states on its ever-expanding “travel ban” list because of that state’s new prohibition against funding gender-transition surgeries under Medicaid.

The announcement by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra means that as of Oct. 4, California will no longer offer taxpayer-funded trips to Iowa for any public employee or student at a state-run university.

Becerra’s authority came from a 2016 California law signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown that bars state-funded travel to other states that undercut LGBT rights. The blacklist already included Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Conservatives have called the law ineffective, inconveniencing, possibly unconstitutional and hypocritical. The state’s sports teams have turned to private funding to get around the restrictions, according to The Los Angeles Times. …

re: “California announced last week that it has added Iowa to the list of states on its ever-expanding “travel ban” list “

Doesn’t this violate some clause, some provision in the Constitution regarding interstate commerce, travel?

re: “As a California resident, I’d love it if the state of California would extend this to all other states”

Sounds an awful lot like secession; I think that was tried once ...

Iowans breathe a sigh of relief.

Seriously, other states should prohibit Californians from moving into their respective states. Stem the infection.

Lookin’ for a class-action law suit under the interstate commerce clause. All named states should band together and sue for cash and prizes.

Too bad other states can’t ban Californians from moving out of the state they’ve ruined.

Right. I mean, even before this travel ban, who would voluntarily want to go to California, with all the homeless and disease and rats and all.

Am I the only one seeing something scary about California’s fall into socialism? I mean it’s sounding more like they are another country instead of being a state in the USofA. They issue a travel ban against another state, trying to force them to pay for some lost soul’s gender surgery? This kind of surgery is elective, like abortions. Tax payers should not pay for this as well as abortions. And “state run university”? I think Californians need to wake up and do some deep history lessons.

In it’s never-ending quest to control every single moment of a California resident’s day, a bill was crafted in that Legislature that got stuck ‘in Committee’.

The bill was NOT KILLED-—just stuck there. It can come up again anytime.

The bill was to SEIZE all the assets of a person who was selling their residence or business & intending to move out of California & to HOLD those assets for a period of 5 YEARS.

All your funds received from the sale of your residence -—your business —your vehicles —your bank accounts-— ( all of them) -—your 401 money —your clothes —your household goods -—EVERYTHING you own. You would be lucky to escape on a Greyhound bus or on an airplane with the clothes on your back.

IF anyone has ANY DOUBT about the mentality of the Democrats-—all of them— not just California-—

THINK ABOUT what I just wrote here.
