Rand Paul on John Bolton’s Firing: ‘The Chances of a War Worldwide Go Greatly Down’

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is celebrating the firing of President Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton, noting that ‘the chances of a war worldwide go greatly down.”

Senator Paul asserted that Bolton was “working against Trump” and that “Bolton’s probably the leading advocate for regime change everywhere.”

“Bolton’s probably the leading advocate for regime change everywhere,” Paul told Fox News. “He’s got the naïve worldview that believes that we should recreate the world in our image by toppling countries through violent overthrow and that somehow democracy will prevail.

“And I think when we’ve done it in the Middle East, often the governments that come into place after the authoritarian is removed end up being as bad or worse as the government we saw in place before.”

Senator Paul also commended the president on Twitter for giving the hawkish neocon the boot.

Rand Paul should have just kept his mouth shut.

Who duh thunk! I am surprised he lasted this long. Bolton is still in my top three, with Palin and West.

Rand is correct, though he may have waited a few days to gloat.

Rand, I think this is a rather lackluster comment. Inferring the actions of Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama were grand examples of U. S. policy, is a very shakey premise.

I'm not a big fan of regime chance either, but there is a vast difference between the Left's regime change ideas and those of the Right.

I’m not seeing it as gloating as much as getting the valid reason for the dismissal out there and making it a charge that Bolton will have to address at some point (and “That’s preposterous!” won’t necessarily cut it).

Bolton was a danger to America and President Trump took a bold move to protect our nation from Bolton. The firing of Bolton shows every American that President Trump will keep us safe.

“Bolton is still in my top three, with Palin and West.”

I’m in the same boat but he’s still top 10 to me. Unlike the wimps who kept crying “Bolton will get us into wars WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH” on this board, I share his hatred for the UN.

For the record, I didn’t give a rat’s ass if we waged war against Iran but I prefer a nuke to blast them permanently.

I guess I’ll be called a “neocon” now by the fag Bolton haters..

I agree, McCain was the face and salesman for the Military Industrial Complex. Bolton picked up the Baton and ran with it as the new front man in congress. But unlike McCain who could do very little but sell, Bolton was in a position to not only sell, but also to deliver the product sometimes without approval. He is much more dangerous than McCain ever was.

Then he didn’t resign until today.

Yeah, he was fired.

I am being told that John Bolton was super excited this morning
because all of his emails had the subject line Regime Change...
things went south quickly after he started opening them.

Actually, Trump’s tweet said:

“and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. ...”

That is a combo, but technically Trump did allow him to resign, so what’s the issue?

Rand Paul is backing Trump against Bolton.

So who do you support - Trump and Paul, or Bolton?
