Please, just think this through.
People have a right to free speech. But if a guy walks into a barber shop and starts rambling on and on about politics, or using bad language, does the owner not have a right to boot him out if he doesn’t shut up?
Same thing with guns. I get to tell people what rules of mine they have to abide by if they don’t want to be booted off my property.
And the key is that it is MY property.
Regarding the CC without the owner’s knowledge, I’m not saying I’m willing to violate their rights. I’m merely pointing out that they have to KNOW you are violating their rules before they decide they want you off their property.
“But if a guy walks into a barber shop and starts rambling on and on about politics, or using bad language, does the owner not have a right to boot him out if he doesnt shut up?”
Sure. The guy is creating a public disturbance with his speech.
I’m not sure about violating the guys free speech rights there, but I’m sure the barber’s private property rights don’t trump the guys free speech rights to say “No” if the barber makes a sexual advance toward him. The barber may kick him out for it, but the guy has a free speech right to say “No.”
All I’m saying is that Property rights don’t always trump other rights; I’m not saying that they never do.
“Same thing with guns.”
I disagree with that. Carrying a gun is not necessarily creating a public or private disturbance, especially if it’s not seen, most especially if it’s not heard.
