GOP faces must-win race in North Carolina
The Hill ^ | 09/09/19 | Max Greenwood

Republicans are scrambling to avoid what would be a devastating loss in the special House election in North Carolina’s 9th District.

Internal polls from both sides show Republican Dan Bishop and Democrat Dan McCready running neck and neck in a traditional GOP stronghold that was unexpectedly competitive in 2018. But privately, several Republican officials and strategists have conceded that Democrats may have an edge in voter enthusiasm in a district that President Trump won by nearly 12 points in 2016.

Republicans have sought to nationalize the race by honing in on issues like Trump’s proposed border wall and labeling McCready a “socialist.” They’re hoping that an eleventh-hour visit to the district by Trump on Monday will lend them the momentum they need to push Bishop across the finish line on Tuesday.

In an interview with The Hill on Saturday, Bishop insisted that Trump’s planned rally in the district, as well as an appearance by Vice President Pence on Monday, would give his candidacy a final jolt heading into Election Day.

“The sense that we have is that we’re surging,” Bishop said. “Early voting sort of started out a little soft and has firmed up. It looked really good the last couple days. And I think with the president coming in and the vice president on Monday, that’s going to put us over the top.”

Democrats, meanwhile, have deployed a divergent strategy in the district, which stretches from the Charlotte suburbs to Fayetteville in the east. McCready has sought to keep his distance from partisan rancor in Washington and cast himself as a compromise-minded moderate.

Spies fear a consulting firm helped hobble U.S. intelligence (McKinsey is McCready’s former employer)

Insiders say a multimillion dollar McKinsey-fueled overhaul of the country’s intelligence community has left it less effective.

“CIA hires McKinsey; $10M for a reorganization project”

If the executives in charge of an organization don’t know how to organize and streamline processes, they should be fired and replaced by executives who are capable of doing their job. McKinsey brings in young Harvard MBA’s who take textbook, cookie cutter practices and apply them to an organization whether or not it is compatible with the mission or the culture. McKinsey then earns millions in consulting fees which drop straight into the pockets of the partners.

During my business career I saw many companies hire McKinsey and other prestige consulting firms to tell them how to run or improve operations. I can’t recall one that benefited.

Corporate boards are negligent in hiring consultants instead of firing the incompetent executives. Unfortunately, bureaucrats are just as bad - or worse.

In every one of McReady’s adds I’ve seen, he NEVER ONCE identified as a Democrat. Instead, he talked about his military experience, tax cuts for the middle class, and reaching across the aisle. If the Democrats want to claim a win, shouldn’t they first claim the candidate?

Yeah, I think Bishop has a good chance. I think Pittenger or one of his lackeys set up the Mark Harris debacle. That Red Dome group is way too slimy and I know they specifically ask Dowless to do illegal work while telling the Dem Bladen County Improvement Group to back off and not do vote harvesting this term.

It disgusts me that this happened to Harris, but the guy’s a preacher and not a politician.

If McCready won't self-identify as a Democrats, Bishop should be running ads reminding voters McCready is a Democrat and the Democratic policies and ideology he represents; gun grabbing, open border, welfare for illegals, etc.

The ad is simple.

'DEMOCRAT Dan McCready wants to take your guns. DEMOCRAT Dan McCready wants to give free health care and welfare to illegal aliens. DEMOCRAT Dan McCready wants open borders and eliminate border enforcement'.

Keep repeating and stressing he's a DEMOCRAT and everything that entails.

Excellent post. If GOP doesn’t start that kind of ad push then the people will vote next year along the lines of hairstyles, harsh tweets, “saw on CNN that he’s a crook” and other BS.

Especially good: free health care and welfare to people on your tax money who just got here illegally and never paid a dime of taxes.

It’s pretty obvious from your posting history that you are out to get President Trump and want to drive a wedge between him and his voters.

So, are you going to be voting for the Communist McCready?

You do understand that President Trump said that the red flag laws were a slippery slope and he didn’t support them? Of course you do. You are just another NeverTrump shill in disguise.
