IG report reveals more evidence transition briefing used to gather intel on Trump team
Fox News ^ | September 03 2019 | Catherine Herridge

James Comey immediately shared details from a post-election briefing for then-President-elect Donald Trump with the FBI’s Russia team, according to the recently released inspector general's report on the former bureau director’s actions -- in the latest indication that traditional transition briefings were used to update the incoming president and his team, as well as gather intelligence for the ongoing FBI investigation.

The long-awaited report from Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz on Thursday said Comey violated bureau policies by drafting, leaking and retaining his memos documenting private discussions with the president.

The report also revealed new details about the FBI director’s actions at that time, including how Comey and his top deputies went to great lengths to confront Trump at a Jan. 6, 2017 meeting at Trump Tower with the salacious and unverified accusations contained in the dossier, which had been funded by Democrats and drafted by British ex-spy Christopher Steele.

Reading this has led me to lose respect for Herridge. Note her careful use of the phrase: "Republicans said". It is repeated several times in the article.

This is an obvious attempt to subtly turn this story from a fact based report of Deep State corruption into simply a partisan accusation.

I had always thought of Herridge as one of the more straight down the line reporters at Fox News. She's either been "talked to" by the new liberal leaders at Fox, or she's letting her bias finally show through.

It must be a requirement that Congress be composed of idiots. They STILL want to find out how it started. Face, meet 2X4. We all know what happened: a plot to overthrow the government and pave the way for a dictatorship. We know who was involved in this treasonous act.

So enough investigating. ARREST THEM.

They beat us down with bomb shells and breaking news for ever until we are numb and sick of it all and time passes and no prosecutions, indictments or jail time. This is how it all ends. Remember the financial crisis, Benghazi and a slew of others. No one was held responsible NO ONE

You are kidding right?

Of course she is going to say Republican in the article. It sure wasn’t Democrats who wanted to investigate this attempted coup.

This is not bias it is fact. Are you so afraid of the truth that a reporter (well respected and non-political) cannot even use the actual name of the actual party, that the REPUBLICANS in Congress are looking into this coup.

The internet: proud home of idiots.

Gotta pin some of the blame on Trump for this. He should have KNOWN how much these people hated his guts, and should absolutely have been expecting all of this.

Mass firings of the top 3 layers of Federal agency management should have taken place on 1/21/2017.

She has seemed solid to me in the past, too. This could be an “fair and balanced” fox editor putting their corporate fingers on the scales.

***Of course she is going to say Republican in the article ... This is not bias it is fact***

I agree that the piece is fairly written. Of course official govt investigative sources cannot make comment. Herridge quotes Cong. Nunes, who is no longer in charge of the House Intel committee and also quotes Sen. Grassley who does still have some investigative authority.

However, a disturbing pattern is beginning to emerge in Spygate. Tonight on Hannity Cong. Nunes said he is filing a lawsuit against Fusion GPS for actions hindering his investigations when he was committee chair. Why does he not trust DoJ to pursue possible obstruction of justice cases? Despite Prez. Trump ordering DECLAS - what? a year ago? - all released classified (and otherwise) documents have either been by Cong. committees (Repub) or via FOIA lawsuits filed by individuals or watchdog organizations - often redacted.

Nunes stopped himself on Hannity tonight almost saying that he couldn't depend on DoJ to pursue the Fusion GPS concern. He has repeatedly commented on the criminal referrals that he has sent to DoJ. Yet every time he has been asked (on FNC, of course) if he believes govt officials involved in Spygate will be held accountable he has deflected the subject in responding.

I do not want to join the naysayers who believe there will be no prosecutions, but alarm bells are sounding in my mind. I am fairly certain that Horowitz, Huber, Durham will expose DoJ/FBI wrongdoing; but, as we have seen in the McCabe and Comey reports - will there be prosecutions? Where are the FISC judges?

What a travesty that, after the Horowitz report on Comey, Comey can demand an apology... aided of course by a useless mute media. Alarm bells are sounding in my head.

I think that Nunes’ actions and what he is saying are to bring more and more public awareness to the crimes committed.

I trust what Q has said, that there were be no deals for the criminals, and that we will see justice prevail. The rot, corruption and crime are so deep, so many crimes by so many criminals, that unwinding this, exposing the crimes and bringing the criminals to justice, that the public MUST be on board. Not of course every single American, but the majority.

The more often Nunes and others go on Fox or where ever, and make statements, and drop more info, repeating the same that was heard before, this drums it into the public’s mind. Q said more than a few times that bringing the criminals to justice will not work without tearing the country apart, until the general public is made ready.

All this is making the public ready.

***All this is making the public ready***

Good points all; however, I am not sure they cover DECLAS which DJT ordered about a year ago and re-authorized when assigning the task to AG Barr. So far nothing has been declassed; I suppose some material could relate to ongoing investigations.

The Statements I referenced are these:

1. Republicans predict IG's Comey rebuke is tip of the iceberg for FBI, DOJ over anti-Trump 'biases'.
2. Republicans expressed concern over the revelations.
3, Republicans in the Senate responded to those disclosures by seeking more information on the transition briefings as well as media leaks.

Multiple repetitions of this theme certainly infer that the complaints are merely partisan sniping. In fact, they are legitimate observations.

In items 1 and 2, she could have named a couple of 'predictors' and 'expressors', then added "and others". One such very loud 'expressor' is Hannity, and he is not even a Republican. In item 3 she could have said "The Senate Intelligence Committee", not simply " Republicans". These changes would be quite accurate, and give much more weight to the charges, in my opinion.

I am sure that AG Barr, as well as Whitaker and Sessions before him, were doing what Trump wanted them to do. Public has to be readied before DECLAS.
