Brexit: No-deal opponents defeat government

Tory rebels and opposition MPs have defeated the government in the first stage of their attempt to pass a law designed to prevent a no-deal Brexit.

The Commons voted 328 to 301 to take control of the agenda, meaning they can bring forward a bill seeking to delay the UK's exit date.

In response, the prime minister said he would bring forward a motion for an early general election.

Jeremy Corbyn said the bill should be passed before an election was held.

Unless Boris wins the election, the Remoaners have finally succeeded in stopping Brexit.

Comments?

My thoughts are that Boris parachutes his own into the ridings of everyone who voted against him, romps in the election, and then reverses whatever legislation has been passed in the mean time.

But I’m coming at it as a Yank who has spent most of his adulthood in Ontario.

I may be missing something, but I think that it is most definitely advantage Boris.

Boris will win and win big.

Right now he is just toying with the opposition.

I’d give Boris about 70% odds, but I’ll wait for Naturalman to weigh in.

Boris is courageous to take this approach.

I’m not sure if he has any choice if he wants to reach his goal, but I think he has a winning hand.

What a crying shame, it sure sounds like the once-great British people are cowed under the EU(ronazi) control.
Their parents wasted their time fighting WW2

Maybe it is time for the British to have their own tea party.

Well the tories that bolted get kicked out of teh Tory party, right? They probably won’t win the re-election and another Tory will replace them, no?

Let’s (sorta) put this in American political terms.

Boris Johnson is like Lindsay Graham. Normally, Graham was the epitome of a RINO, able to talk tough but usually appeased at the last minute. Boris is like that as well: As mayor of London, he talked tough but gave in a lot of concessions that have since been built upon by successive mayors. (For instance, one cannot have a girl in a bikini in an ad.)

But when Trump was elected, Graham transformed int Lindsay 2.0. Although not a conservative by any stretch, he is at least going to great lengths to protect and even, in some cases, promote Trump’s agenda, and in the same token, preventing the Left from advancing their agenda, particularly when it comes to judges, and he’s somewhat lost the “Ghraham-nesty” dig.

In that way, Nigel Farage is Britain’s “Trump.” HE’S the one who is actually threatening to call for elections with the Brexit Party waiting in the wings. Farage is there to push Boris over the finish line with regard to Brexit, and if Boris backs down, then it will be Farage who will lead the movement for the new elections. He has a slate of Brexit candidates who will stand for the general election, and he himself will run at one too.

And if they replicate the current results in the recent EU elections, then the Brexit Party will control the government, and Nigel Farage will replace Boris Johnson and make him one of the shortest-lived PM’s in British history. And then Farage will push the No-Deal Brexit through.

I doubt, though, that Boris Johnson will appease the communist globalist remoaners, though. HE is a politician and he can read the tea leaves as plain as day. He sees what is happening in the US, Italy, Eastern Europe, and even Brazil; he knows he’s toast if he appeases the Left.

(Personally, I’d kinda like to see it happen; Farage would be the best Prime Minister since Thatcher and Churchill, but his only...repeat...ONLY desire is to see Brexit happen. Farage will gladly step out of politics once that happens, and remain a statesman bar none.

Given the last round of MEP elections in the UK where the Brexit party soundly romped to victory, as long as they and the Tories don’t split the vote they’ll have a strong majority and once that happens they won’t even have to wait until the 31st to leave the EU.

You’ve got a pretty good take on it. But I’d put Johnson a star above Graham.

The people should see that their overlords really don’t care about them.

Most of Britain voted in favor of Brexit, so Johnson can absolutely win a majority in the election, IF it’s framed as Britain-gaining-control-of-its-own-country-again vs. EU slavery

and that’s basically what it really comes down to ... the same choice as in 1940

Britain didn’t submit & surrender then, I’m thinking they won’t this time either

But the EU fearmongering propaganda will be off the charts

Conservatives have a big lead, and there is still 10+ percent for the Brexit Party.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_next_United_Kingdom_general_election#National_poll_results

But things can change in a month long campaign, we saw that with useless Theresa May.

I think we will see the Lib Dem vote substantially collapse and end up with Labour to “stop Brexit”. It’s already happening.

And I suspect the Brexit Party will show the same trends, although there may be a deal not to run competitive Candidates against the Conservatives and vice versa.

Pray for the freedom of Britain !

The lesson here is the left never ever gives up. You would never know they actually lost the Brexit vote. Even when they lose a vote they snake around and use every trick you can imagine to keep the loss from taking effect.
