Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot clashed with Sen. Ted Cruz over the latest burst of gun violence in the city, claiming Monday that Chicago’s decades-long crime problem is actually the fault of Republican-run states like Indiana – because they don’t have “commonsense gun legislation” in place.
The retort came after Cruz, R-Texas, tweeted that “gun control doesn’t work” and pointed to the Democrat-run city as evidence that “disarming law-abiding citizens isn’t the answer.” His tweet referenced an article reporting that at least 25 people were shot in Chicago during Labor Day weekend amid a continuing crime wave in the city.
“Stopping violent criminals—prosecuting & getting them off the street—BEFORE they commit more violent crimes is the most effective way to reduce murder rates," Cruz tweeted. "Let’s protect our citizens.”
Lightfoot, elected mayor earlier this year, tweeted a graphic claiming that the top 10 source states of recovered firearms between 2013-2016 included Indiana, Mississippi and Wisconsin.

Why doesn’t she concentrate on cleaning up her city and less on whatever Cruz has to say?
She wears wingtips and an oversized sport coat.
And Cruz goes off and buys several bottles of Listerine to cleanse his mouth.

What’s up with this woman? Is she more interested in making some political statement, or actually reducing gun violence in her city? is she more interested in scoring debate points rather than taking actions that may help solve the problem?
Mayor Lightfoot may well be a real lightweight when it comes to grappling with the very serious problems Chicago has.

If these other States’ “lax” gun laws were the problem, wouldn’t it then follow that their gun-violence problems would be on par (or worse) than Chicago’s?

Lightfoot could care less about cleaning up Chicago, she’s just a Rat politician.
The catch and release of gang members in Shitcago needs to end NOW!!! The problem is the prison system in Illinois is like a second home to many of these thugs.

So those cunning R’s in Indiana have figured out how to have lax gun laws that increase Chicago’s crime rates but not the rates actually in their state? Damn!
Basically because black lives DON’T matter, not to black liberals. Unless the life in question fits in with an anti-police narrative, then it briefly matters. But if it’s just one black person ruthlessly gunning down another black person (or group of black people)... why, that doesn’t matter at all, and please, don’t mention it, and by the way, if you DO mention it you are...
