It’s hard to solve. In america you can’t put people away because they are crazy. But if we don’t then we live with the risk that they will do crazy shit.
But if you do lock up crazy people for being crazy then it’s just a matter of time before the gov’t declares you crazy if you disagree with their agenda.

We used to.
Progressives fought to have them released, and won.
Now we have to deal with nutcases, from homelessness to mass murder, who won’t choose treatment.
Somehow we used to lock up people for being crazy. Not sure how we did it for so many years without government taking advantage.
The thing is people worry about the government locking up people for not agreeing politically, but the truth is by then things are on the brink already so they would lock us up anyway.
What... You mean like the left feels about all of us on the right this very day..?? And there are one heck of a lot of lefties in places of power in our government...

I'm sure it's edited but just the same every traffic stop from tail lights to tinted windows to no front license plate results in needles, meth, heroin, coke, marijuana no drivers license, no ID, on probation/parole, just got out, known gang member etc.

There is nothing even slightly unconstitutional about it, and we did it for well over a century. There just needs to be due process in a hearing where the person has rights. It’s no different than a criminal trial.
Probable cause leads to an arrest which leads to a court proceeding.
When these nuts expose themselves, they need to be detained and committed until they return to sanity..if they do. The nuthouses don’t need to be cruel, and they shouldn’t be.
But nobody, including them is done any favors by leaving them out in the streets.

Quite a dilemma. I doubt there is a solution that does not involve common sense, trust, honor and other similar Godly principles. Looks like we are sunk.
Part of the problem is that psychiatrists and even now psychologists are trying to convince the world that theirs is a profession of the hard sciences.
It is not.
Most of these professions are purely subjective and interpretive. Psychology belongs not in the sciences wing of universities but in the humanities wing, as it is little more than philosophy and the theory of criticism and, thanks to Freud, most of it has been co-opted by Critical Theory and the Cultural Marxists.
Psychiatry is only a little better and only a little more based in the hard sciences. The problem is that too many psychiatrists are caught between trying to be Freudian psychologists (cultural critiques, it isn’t your fault, etc.) and scientific doctors.
The problem is that many mental illnesses are not curable in a scientific manner the way that a bacterial infection is.
They are involved in guess work. They think a patient’s issues are rooted in some imbalance in the brain and they prescribe medication to balance that out. But they do not know for certain.
Unfortunately, many of the SSRI medications that psychiatrists prescribe to treat psychotic patients have a known 10-15% change of causing suicidal or homicidal impulses in those taking the medication.
They know this.
And yet they continue to prescribe these medications.
WHY!!???
And WHY will these “doctors” these “scientifically-based medical professionals” not admit that they are providing the medication that is causing a lot of these rampages?
THESE are the questions we should be asking and discussing...NOT gun control, which is all the citizenry has to protect themselves against these maniacs that are being hopped up by ego-maniacal “doctors.”
