Mayor Bill de Blasio has aggressively pushed a bike-friendly agenda, adding about 100 miles of dedicated lanes for cyclists amid a spike in rider collisions, but hes done little to address the danger that bikers themselves pose.
Since 2011, bicyclists have injured more than 2,250 pedestrians including at least seven who died according to stats from the city Department of Transportation and published reports.
Injuries are up 12 percent this year, rising to 127 through June 30 from 113 over the same period in 2018, the NYPD says...

It’s time for pedestrians to fight back. Baseball bats and log chains for when taking a walk in the park now.
I HATED bicyclists when I worked in Manhattan.
They have less regard for laws than the cabbies.
Saw a guy punch someone off a bike once.
That was hysterical :)
Cigar lighters vs. spandex shorts.
worse than Manhattan cabbies? I’m not so sure. I swore never ever to go back to Manhattan after driving there. They are suicidal and had my nerves whacked
The agenda is paramount, facts be damned. DeBozo is a fool, an outright Commie, yet everyone in NY pretends there is no problem. Keep it up you clowns in the Empire State....
It would be a shame if two bikers hit each other head on.
‘Fourth trimester abortions’... good for the planet!
Why should Dems have a problem
Broom handles in spokes
Bikes can do damage. I was injured when a guy on a bike hit me in my back when I came out of a gate on a sidewalk. There was a 6 foot high wood fence and didn’t see him coming. Luckily I was about 33 years old and healed quickly. I think bicyclists should be charged as anybody would operating a moving vehicle. But they are promoted as saving the planet and are exempt.
I,would like to see how many of these injuries occur with motorized bikes. A motorized bike will have ten times as much kinetic enrrgy..since it spcan travel three times as fast.
All we really need to do is call them out when they infringe our rights. The social pressure would go a long way toward stopping them.
But I have never seen anyone do this but me.
Exempt from operator licensing and fees.
Exempt from annual registration and fess.
Exempt from insurance requirements.
But a bunch of whiney gimmedats demanding others pay for THEIR bike lanes,
demanding motorists give them at least a 4 foot clearance in passing,
demanding to have the rights of a motor vehicle but none of the responsibilities.
Sounds like a bike ban may be in the offing.
yeah it’s the bike messengers who are the biggest problem
these people fly through traffic at full speed all day with no regard for safety, I was stunned when I saw just how reckless it is... and there are quite a few of them

“aggressively friendly”
Nope. Aggressively activist.
Drunken bicyclists are also considered a “safe” alternative to drunk car drivers when they go on pub crawls (binge drinking tours) or rage at a party and then ride in “critical mass” protests to flaunt running red lights and preventing cars from moving in traffic/intersections.
yeah its the bike messengers who are the biggest problem
Bike messenger? Havent seen one of those since the Internet.
I know someone who was killed crossing Madison Ave by a speeding bike.
