Michael Dowling is taking a stand against guns. Calling firearms a disease that weve ignored for far too long, the healthcare executive is urging fellow doctors and hospital administrators to take aggressive action against this public health crisis.
Dowling is the president and CEO of Northwell Health, New York States largest health care provider and employer. He first published his stance in a blog post on Northwell Healths website, and later took out a full-page ad in the New York Times national edition, according to HealthLeaders.
Gun violence is clearly a public health crisis that weve ignored for far too long, he says. As health care providers, we have an obligation to preserve and protect life. We have a rich and proud history of responding aggressively and successfully to past public health crises.
Leaders, Dowling says, should be willing to speak up about issues affecting their communityno matter the criticism they receive.

This idiot shouldn’t be running anything. He can’t understand what is killing people. Guns don’t even rate a number. Hospitals kill more people with medical mistakes.
250,000 medical mistake deaths per year, versus 30K or so gun deaths - I think this guy is focusing on the wrong problem.
He’s got a face that looks uncircumcised.
Over in Sadiq Khan’s London, the “disease” of guns got eradicated with “aggressive” actiononly to get replaced with knives and corrosive liquids.
I’ve never owned a gun with a disease.
New York -— figures.
Yet another reason to just lie and say no if any health care provided asks whether you own firearms or whether there are firearms in the home. ANY answer other than “no” (ie. that’s not of your business, etc. etc.) will go down as a yes. With the advent of red flag laws you can bet these ideologue health care providers will use the information against you and they will have a high level of credibility before a judge.
Maybe he means homosexuality, and simply misspoke.
Let’s see, what else causes traumatic Injury, Automobiles, Knives, Swimming Pools, Gravity? The list is endless.
Of course, it is the Bullet that causes Injury and death, unless the Criminal beats you over the head with a Rifle.
How about we eliminate the combination of Evil and Human Ingenuity? That should be easy enough.
A real deep thinker they have there.
lol. Right?
I keep thinking...these people are dreaming, that is until I ponder the thought, “one day the new democrat party will control all three houses of government.”
Scary thought.
Mr. Dowling needs to feed the hogs.
Michael, get back to me when you do something about the healthcare induced violence of abortion. It has a 100% murder rate perpetrated by healthcare professionals.
Not if we get them first... It's becoming time to Skin the Smokewagon.
How’s screwing like rabbits and having 5 kids by 22 with 5 fathers and no income except gubmint.
Any chance that’s the real health crisis?
nah.
When this assclown eradicates evil people we can talk about guns.
