The Trump administration has started denying pleas by non-citizens who are trying to extend their time in the U.S. in order to treat severe medical conditions.

Letters issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and obtained by ABC News, tell people applying for medical relief that agency offices, "no longer consider deferred action requests," except for members of the military.

Works for me. No medical treatment on the American dime.

I’d go along with treatment only IF the person’s country agrees to pay the bill in it’s entirety!

Put the onus on the country he came from.

The US pays Britain for treatment of US citizens who fall ill and are treated by NHS...this is AS IT SHOULD BE.

At least for the Mexican citizens they have socialized medicine in Mexico so they can go home and receive medical treatment at no cost.

Hit the road...

Ironically, American insured ( at exorbitant premiums, huge deductible and limited coverage) who are paying out the nose for health insurance, must go to Mexico to PAY for low cost medical care because we have to cover all the illegal aliens with serious medical conditions who come here illegally to obtain fully free medical care that insured Americans cannot afford to pay for themselves because they have to cover the costs of the illegal alien free riders

Sounds like a good plan. I would guess is that at least some portion of those claiming medical emergency are gaming the system.

non-citizens who are trying to extend their time in the U.S. in order to treat severe medical conditions.

If they’re paying for ALL of it, out of their own pocket, who cares.

Alas, they are not. They crawled across the border for those exact reasons and have been forcing the taxpayers to foot the bill for decades.

This is a start to end illegals freeloading in the United States at the expense of the taxpayer. We need to also tackle the citizen freeloaders scamming the system. Our area emergency rooms are teeming with people who use them as a “regular doctor’s visit”, benefit cards are being exchanged for cash/drugs, tattoos etc., etc., etc. and oh yes, the free phones are still out there. I am all for helping people and I do. . .but . . .

Indeed, it is the number one motivator for them flooding our gates. No medical benefits, no illegals flooding here to get nothing.

But in the case of Central American countries and Mexico, this would make no sense because they have no economies. They get aid money from us. So, wouldn’t it make more sense to first implement measures such as this? Give it a few months, say the end of the year, and see if those gov’ts. are serious about stopping illegal immigration, especially Mexico. If they’re not serious, then withhold aid, too.

I agree, but America really, really, really needs to bring the costs of medicine in the States WAY DOWN.

For real.

Mexico turns 1.15 trillion dollars of GDP (2017 numbers). They aren’t exactly poor, and they aren’t really sponsoring some massive military force.

I would agree on Honduras and Guatemala....both have marginal economies.

What is left out of this story on the ‘33 days’ is what countries and to what degree of people are we talking about. If we are just talking about 500 individuals or families, then it’s not much of a big deal. If this was going up to around 10,000 folks on some delay list, then it is a fairly significant deal.

For virtually all conditions, a month is enough to render treatment or stabilize a patient and arrange for transport back to their home country. The problem is that advanced therapies are expensive and there is little in the way of medical charity in the Third World.

Mexicans fleeing Mexico’s “free” healthcare tells you all you need to know about the quality of care provided by Mexico

Our immigration rules do not allow for entry of sick persons.

This must be fake news. We’ve been told for years, that our “health care” is plain awful, the worst in the world; why, our neighbor Cuba has way better medical care.

No person would ever leave their country when they have a “free medical” utopia.

“I don’t wanna go!” Is not a valid, severe, medical condition.
