Can someone explain to me, so I can explain to my libtard cousin, how the tariffs are paid by China? He keeps posting that consumers pay the tariffs, but we know that’s clearly not true because Trump makes China pay. Is it that China has to pay 10% when they sell the goods, or something else. I’m dealing with a real idiot here.

After markets closed, Trump weighed in with the latest escalation in the trade war – slapping new tariffs on billions of additional Chinese products.

Starting October 1, $250 billion in Chinese products now being tariffed at 25 per cent would be hit with a 30 per cent tariff. And $300 billion in goods being hit with a 10 per cent tariff staring Sept. 1 will now be hit with a 15 per cent tariff, Trump Tweeted.

‘Thank you for your attention to this matter! Trump concluded at the end of a day that had traders and economies around the world on edge.

Earlier, he said the U.S. was ‘better off’ without China.

Looks like we might be heading into a full blown trade war. A lot depends on what other western countries do to undercut us, as they are doing by purchasing Huawei 5g infrastructure. But Trump is causing short term damage by forcing China to devalue their currency, and long term damage by successfully encouraging manufacturers to move or consider moving out of China to Vietnam, Thailand, India, Taiwan, etc, and in rare cases back to the USA. The Chinese are caught between 2 major cultural traits. First, they hate to lose face, and backing down to Trump would be a major loss. On the other hand, they are very patient, and look to to long term goals as opposed to the west’s desire for instant gratification. But they are not THAT patient. If this trade war goes on for very long it could set them back decades, and losing it could bring down both their government and their economy.

Maybe they think they will outlast Trump, and deal with a more compliant POTUS in 2021. It will be interesting to see what happens when the “free press” and social media/tech giants are openly collaborating with China next year to change the outcome of an election...

Trump is the only president who recognized the problem and is trying to do something about it. I love that guy! I think patriotic Americans should back him up.

As a, ‘Grow Your Own Veggies, Raise Your Own Meat, Cook Your Own Food, Buy Clothes on the Second Hand Market’ kind of gal, the LESS Chinese CR@P that ends up in OUR landfills, the better!

However, we need to brace ourselves for the Tech End of this, as there will be price hikes on cellphones (I have a flip-phone, I’m not smart enough for a Smart phone, LOL!) and computers (I LOVE my computer and it makes $ for me from home) and other ‘stuff’ that makes my life easier while I’m growing stuff and raising stuff and cooking and shopping at Thrift Stores, etc.

I TOTALLY support President Trump on this - and I predict the Chi-Coms CAVE sooner than later.

Trump. 2020. Landslide. MAGA! KAG! :)

I love how the news projects that Chinese tariffs will cost consumers x amount more...as if consumers will continue to pay higher costs. Consumers quickly see that things increase in price and adjust buying habits accordingly.

Thank you, Mr. Pres. Keep ratcheting it up. I’d prefer we didn’t import as much as a thimble from these commie thieves.

Good. Everytime they escalate, hit ‘em back even harder. IN the end they lose because they sell a lot more to us than we do to them.

Over the last few decades, we've witnessed the greatest transfer of wealth in world history from the American middle class to the communist Chinese government.

Shame on these globalist!! They'd sell their mama's walking cane for the almighty $$$.

Betray the country of their birth for a buck. Now look at Chi-coms, increasingly arrogant and confident of their ability to take on America militarily and economically. It was our government leaders from both houses of congress and past presidents who allowed this nonsense.

Go get’em Trump.....Best president EVER.

Next step is to slow down the Cina shipping coming in by creating an inspection waiting line.

We need to find illegal drugs and counterfeit products. Inspect every container completely.

And the undisputed winner in all of this is Vietnam. Lots of businesses moving from China to Vietnam. I’m beginning to think we didn’t lose that war after all.

I know Trump is probably doing the right thing here, but on the other hand, doesn’t China know that at worst, they just have to wait 5 years? I know that may seem like an eternity, but their civilization is 5,000 years old, I think they know patience.

The markets don’t like uncertainty.

The fact that the G-7 is happening this weekend raises the possibility that maybe face-to-face talks with China will result in some reprieve before Monday morning.

But that’s not how you’d bet: These summits with European allies have become more adversarial, not less, over the course of Trump’s presidency, to the point that he’s reportedly told aides over the past few weeks that he’d prefer not to go.

He’s more likely to pitch other G-7 members on joining with him in a united western front to teach China a lesson on unfair trade practices. Given how tense European relations are with the White House, how’s that likely to go? What would their price be for an alliance of that sort, given that they’re now going to panic that a prolonged U.S./China trade war will destabilize their own economies?

Works for me. I want to focus on spending money here rather than on Chicom crap.

Bought a Kimber a few weeks back, added a few (5) Case knives handmade here is Pennsylvania, and also bought a handmade stag knife, a handmade stag handled knife from Tennessee, and stag grips from Texas.

Not one cent to the Chicoms. Feels damn good.

F Xi.

F Confucian organized piracy ... “steal what you can and never give back the rest” ... thieves bred to the bone from birth ... a failed nation that has a lurid history of making a bed after rolling in its own shit and then trying to make their populace eat the results.

If I were Trump I would validate HK rebels if I knew they were sufficiently armed. Eleven would fall quickly if he tried to Tianemen HK ... Ceaușescu had it easy ...

China is pushing for a recession to get rid of Trump.

He should call their bluff and halt all imports from China. They will sink first.
