The question to ask is how much area of the forest is being burned compared to how much area of forest is growing beyond the current base area?

shouldn’t AOC and the rest of the leftist who want to “fight” climate change charge on down to Brazil and fight those fires?

“Isn’t the Brazilian rainforest destroyed and lost forever at least once or twice every few years? “

no. once an area of the Brazilian rainforest is burnt and farmed for a maximum of a season or two or is clearcut for lumber that part desertifies forever because there is no organic material in the underlying infertile soil ... ALL of the organic material in a rainforest is in the rainforest itself ...

it’s what happened to the Cedars of Lebanon thousands of years ago ...

the same thing happened to the coastal redwoods of northern california; take a look at satellite pics of Humboldt County ...

The stats are fudging some facts. Amazon deforestation had reached a record low about a decade ago. It began rising again under previous left-wing administrations, reaching a decade-long high before Bolsonaro took office. About a third of the fires are due to natural causes, while a chunk of the rest is due to clearing land for purposes such as illegal logging, farming, and mining, which regulatory efforts have failed to curb. Bolsonaro has nothing to do with it.
