I worked at PW in the experimental airfoil group during the development of the PW5000 now known as the F119 engine. There is a reason it’s noisy.. Power generated in a small tube = noise by the exiting gases. The only thing we didn’t get it to do was having the engine whistle Dixie during spin up.

When they went overhead at @ 1,000 feet or less because the cloud ceiling was so low. It was DAMN' impressive and DAMN' noisy! Shook us, the boat, the water, etc.. Then the spent fuel vapor trail came down on us. LOL! GF couldn't take it, I on the other hand loved the entire experience.

Nothing more American than that, IMO. God Bless and keep our Military!!
