Before we get to the racism disguised by these altruistic red flag laws, let's examine why there's such a call for them in the first place.
The idea that mass shootings are based on mental health issues seems sensible, as we would like to think nobody in his right mind can commit these atrocities, but that line of thought is as wrong as those who choose to blame the gun. Psychologists understand there is a perfect storm of strain and stress that can cause anybody to go on a rampage when certain factors are culminated and met.
Academic circles know that mental health is often wrongly blamed for these tragedies, mostly by the mass media, who like to diagnose mass shooters themselves postmortem. However, statistical research shows that less than 5% of those suffering from any sort of mental illness ever become violent. Some emerging studies go on to argue that even the most severe mental illnesses like schizophrenia actually reduce the likelihood of violent behavior relative to the non-suffering population. What is even worse is that those with these serious mental illnesses are way more likely to be the victims of violence instead.
Mental health clinicians do not want the responsibility that red flag laws would place upon their professions. There is a consensus that because psychiatry is based on observation and not action, they are being set up to fail. Further experiments prove that psychiatrists are less able to predict an individual's future behavior, specifically who might become violent, than ordinary people with no mental health education or background. Since mass shootings, particularly rampage killings done by those with mental illnesses, are so rare, it's quite impossible to retrieve any pattern of data to use to predict future outcomes.

Red flag laws would seriously damage psychology as a whole. While corporations and the public in general are pushing the “talk to someone” approach of mental health up to and including free services for people who need it, the government is planning to pit a person’s mental stability against a system rigged to find anything wrong with a person to have their rights stripped from them.
While lawyers fight out these impending red flag laws in the courts, real people are going to be harmed up to and including being killed because someone was slighted by a comment taken out of context or jilted by a lover. The end result is people being forced to decide: do I see someone to talk about how sad I am or do I hold on to my right to defend myself? I suspect most will remain quiet.
Speaking of “racism” and “red flag” laws...
I wonder how the law enforcement will act when calls are made about gangbangers with dreadlocks and pants down under their asses parading around weapons????

Red flag laws won’t fix a damn thing.. Democrats will continue to allow criminals, like the one who shot 6 police officers, to run free.

Plus, according to the man who explained his Red Flag Law, It will be a good Republican Red Flag Law, not a bad Democrat Red Flag Law. You should rest easier already. The sheep and the Soccer Moms and the house husband Soccer Dads are estasactic. Will it prevent a mentally ill person from attaining a firearm, no. Because there is no easily understood definition of what constitutes a mentally ill individual. or what mental illness is. Ask 10 Psychiatrists what is mental illness and you get 10 different answers. No two the same. What Red Flag Laws will do is keep firearms out of your hands. But as long as the sheep are happy and the Soccer Moms and house husband Soccer Dads are satisfied, no price is too great to pay.
In our county, the Chief of one department has been fired by the mayor, and in the county seat, the city Chief of Police was put on an administrative leave from duty following an FBI raid on the police headquarters office. It kinda looks like the Dukes of Hazzard around here....
And the first time a cop takes a gun from a black....it’s off to the courts we go...discrimination etc etc etc..

Gee, the gun grabbers are a bunch of racists. Why am I not surprised? Virtually all leftists, especially the fascist-communist wing, are extremely, virulently racist.

A common thread running through most of these mass shootings in recent years, in addition to the use of psychotropic drugs by the perps, is that they have juvenile police records.
As it now stands, a person with a sealed juvenile police record can pass the BI test for a weapon purchase.
That is how some of these mass murderers have been able to “legally” acquire a weapon.
If a person trying to buy a weapon has a juvenile record, it should be unsealed and a decision made at that point re: a weapon purchase.
The likelihood that a bad kid will be a bad adult is strong!
