Austin city leaders are expected to approve a resolution declaring a climate emergency during Thursdays city council meeting...If approved, the resolution would require the city manager to give regular updates to the city council on what staff members are doing to achieve climate change goals.The city would also launch a community awareness campaign to let people know what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint.
Additionally, it would create resilience hubs in low to moderate-income areas to serve as shelters, evacuation centers, and disaster response hubs during emergencies related to the changing climate.
On a day like today thats hot, its a place that people can go to get cool, its a place that people can go to get information, Alter said.

I was in Austin awhile back. They have all these little battery powered scooters running everywhere. It’s like they are rushing to get killed on the streets. I rather enjoyed watching them run in to each other.

Up here on The Jersey Shore it’s been in the high 80’s all week and the humidity has been hovering around the same. Humidity yesterday was around 90%. It’s been a steam bath.
