Austin city leaders expected to declare ‘climate emergency’

Austin city leaders are expected to approve a resolution declaring a “climate emergency” during Thursday’s city council meeting...If approved, the resolution would require the city manager to give regular updates to the city council on what staff members are doing to achieve climate change goals. The city would also launch a community awareness campaign to let people know what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint.

Additionally, it would create “resilience hubs” in low to moderate-income areas to serve as shelters, evacuation centers, and disaster response hubs during emergencies related to the changing climate.

“On a day like today that’s hot, it’s a place that people can go to get cool, it’s a place that people can go to get information,” Alter said.

How much will this cost the tax payers? How much pollution and CO2 will these hubs cause with air conditioning? Why can't the above "moderate" income areas have resilience hubs, too? What is the dollar amount for "moderate" or is it just a blanket area on the east side of I-35? Anything short of turning the sun off and building a world wide shade covering should be considered a failure on the city manager's part.

Hey, it's August in Texas. Surprise, it's hot. However, it's not been that hot this summer. The other day it was 89. Yes, an unheard of 89. The local weathermen/gals are all saying how cool this summer has been. Ok, fine this weekend is suppose to get into the 100s but that's still not the summer back in the late 70s when it was 115.

I have the windows open and the fans going and there's a breeze so it's fine. Yes, I'll turn the a/c on later but I'm not freaking out because it's 92. Speaking of fans, why do we have fan drives every year? My fans are mostly around 25 years old. One is 30 and another is 50. What do those needy people do with new fans every year?

Austin, where Leftists who have no real world life experience got to teach.

College towns, not exactly pristine examples of intelligence in motion.

I’m confused. Which is worse climate emergency or climate crisis?

The big question is...what comes after these two?

Like every government program, money will slide into politicians’ pockets (often via their spouses or close relatives who get the service contracts).

Facts are a threat to liberal mind control and power. That’s what they’re really concerned about.

On the series side...I walk every mid-morning. The mornings have been cool here in Charlotte for the last week or so. I have to push hard just to raise a sweat. Of course, it gets warmer/hot later in the day, but I expect that. It’s summer here also.

I’m just LMAO at these fools.

Kinda wish they would have a massive power outage in Austin right about now, just to cull out the melting lefty snowflakes in town.

Simple.
1. Stop driving cars
2. Stop heating/cooling your house
3. Stop using refrigerators
4. Stop using ovens/stoves
5. Stop bathing (Although you have already done this)
6. Stop washing your clothes
7. Stop exhaling that nasty CO2

When I got up this morning and went out to feed it was a reasonable temperature for middle of August.

I’ve been listening to all the rat insanity like the vendetta on oil and gas professed in the dim rat debate. It has reached the level of hysteria. It occurs to me that the whole of the left on second amendment, globull warming, renewable energy, self-driving cars, driving rural people from the land and on and on will never end until they have got what they want and then experience the well going dry. There is also the possibility that they are defeated in combat but I doubt that will make them submissive.

At least two generations have been taught and neglected to have swallowed all the kool-aid offered. They are in fear for their being to the point of irrationality. They can’t be re-educated.

If Trump can move federal functions like the Bureau of Land Management out of DC, we can move State functions out of Austin. I’m writing my state representative.

Build a wall around Austin.
That should corral the hot air in TX to one location.

Mebbe they're playing to all the non-Texans that have just moved there and think this is hot.

Hehe, if they think this is hot they ain't seen nothing yet. Maybe next year we'll have one of those 40 straight days of triple digits to cull them out.

And it has been a very cool summer. June was like it wasn't part of summer and when July started I kept thinking whoa, only 2 months of summer this year.

But of course to non-natives June would have been miserably hot.

Show up at the council meeting and tell them we won’t take climate crises seriously until the entire council, mayor and city manager sell off their cars and take bicycles or public transit to work every day. Challenge them to lead by example or call them out as hypocrites.
