Will 2020 be a Repeat of 2004 for Democrats?

Democrats by 2004 had become obsessed with defeating incumbent President George W. Bush.

Four years earlier, in the 2000 election, Bush had won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. Democrats were still furious that Bush supposedly had been "selected" by the Supreme Court over the contested vote tally in Florida rather than "elected" by the majority of voters.

By late 2003, Bush's popularity had dipped over the unpopular Iraq War, which a majority in both houses of Congress approved but had since disowned.

Bush was attacked nonstop as a Nazi, fascist, and war criminal. "Bush lied, people died" was the new left-wing mantra.

Talk of Bush's impeachment was in the air. Democrats remembered that his father, George H.W. Bush, lost his re-election bid in 1992. They hoped the same fate awaited his son.

Neither presidential candidate Al Gore nor vice-presidential candidate Joe Lieberman from the defeated 2000 ticket wanted to run again in 2004. Sen. John Edwards was a charismatic newcomer candidate, but he was increasingly proving to be a smarmy empty suit.

Oddly, none of the Democrats wished to identify with the last successful liberal president, two-term Bill Clinton, or his policies. In 2000, Gore also ran away from the president under whom he had served as vice president — and lost.

Within that void, little-known Vermont Gov. Howard Dean announced early on that he was running. And for most of 2003, according to polls, Dean was the front-runner of the Democratic primary field.

I think there are similarities, but it’s not going to come down to recounts in one state to see who wins - Trump is going to run away with it.

50 states. The fun part is going to be watching Trump get the electors from these retarded states that tried to nullify the Electoral College. California and Colorado come to mind.

As long as NY and Ca exist, any Republican will most likely lose the popular vote. It's EXACTLY why we have the electoral college.

Obama actually beat the electoral college with concentration in heavy Dem districts.....effectively skewing the state totals.

Their strong points are getting out the vote, dead folks, senior homes, and out anbd out cheating.

Here's my suggestion to Republicans...refrain from early voting, absentee voting of any kind. That takes away the opportunity to throw your vote to the wind.

Republicans are now furious after hearing the media cr** day after day. They've gone off the deep end and are stuck on stupid.

Can't wait to vote for President Trump again.

Can’t even compare it. Bush sat back like the usual Republican hoping for the best. Trump is the first Republican that is taking the fight to the enemy. He is exposing them for who they are. Communist, dishonest, manipulating, pigs.

I am certainly hoping that the offensive against the Deep State picks up after Labor Day. If Trump is demonstrably draining the swamp it will go a long way toward a landslide.

Bush had majority support on two days (aside from the reaction to 9/11). Those two days were Election Day 2000 and Election Day 2004. His focus was on having enough support on those two days to win the election.

Compare that to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who were obsessed with their poll numbers every day of their respective administrations. They were constantly struggling to win the news cycle, and the campaign never stopped.

I’m pretty concerned about the election fraud that will be out there come November 2020. The Democrats are going to do whatever it takes to beat Trump. Clearly they don’t have a message or a candidate. But Trump must lose at all costs. Trump will fight it, but anticipate a very ugly election.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

If a Republican were to win the presidency 4 gazillion to 12, democrats wouldn’t accept it as a legitimate win.

That's a great idea.. It would give the impression the dimocrap was winning big, only to be crushed on election day.. The left would go nuts..! (It would be a short drive).. :)

The difference is the election will be completely rigged. Everything from illegals voting in great numbers to double voting by democrats. Social media will sway as many as 15 million votes to democrats. And then there is the media itself and democrat party. We must work this election as it is our last chance to save America. If we lose we will no linger be free and we will be persecuted as the communists and nazis persecuted.

I waited in line for over an hour last time....first time ever that I had to wait.

I'll wait 10 hours if I have to.

Since we have 15 million more naturalized citizens and anchor babies - probably not.

Don’t tell me you’re buying that garbage about the social media?

Their algorithms will swing FAR FEWER votes than “experts” are saying.

15 million votes would mean a VERY easy win for the dem and if you really believe that then why follow it up with the cheer that we must work as if this is our last election blah blah

your 15 million number is ridiculous

And if the Democrats win will the Trump base accept it as a legitimate win? No.

That’s because the evil left will do anything it takes to “win”. They cheat in every election cycle.

Few people described their 2004 vote as “for Kerry.” Rather, it was against Bush. I certainly didn’t vote “for” McCain or Romney but did vote against Obama. By contrast, in both 2016 and 2020, I am PRO Trump all the way. I don’t see any Dem that will generate much enthusiasm.

Yep. If the Democrats win Republicans say it's because of vote fraud. If the Republicans win Democrats say it's because of voter suppression. Everyone has an excuse.
