If this is true, it was a mother’s cry for help. She knew there was a problem. The police did nothing.
I’ve called the police on several occasions after hearing gunshots in my neighborhood. Their response was underwhelming.
One time, they drove a cruiser around with light off looking around and left. Another time, they sent no one. Waiting for ambulances to be called apparently.
When I was younger, the response would have been vigorous.
The police dismissed this as no crime was involved. They are law enforcement, not babysitters. (noun, 1. A person engaged to care for one or more children in the temporary absence of parents or guardians. 2. A person who cares for or watches over someone or something that needs attention or guidance.)
The trend today, and clear support for my comment can be found on this board in numerous posts, is to avoid making a situation worse by involving the police. He was an adult, he hadn’t threatened anyone with the weapon, he purchased it legally. What would you have had them do? He didn’t even qualify for the “Red Flag” approach in this instance. He wasn’t a threat.
The families attorneys know the call was likely recorded so I assume this story is correct.
I truly grieve for this poor mother :-(
Prayers up for her.
IMO, Trump is far too smart to sign any red-flag bill that could be twisted later into a weapon against law-abiding, sane gun owners. He’s playing them on this...They will scream for gun confiscation and not only won’t get anything of the sort they will drive millions of gun owning dems and independents to vote Trump.
Trump is the smartest president we have ever had.
Knows when to hold ‘em and knows when to fold ‘em.
He works hard to make the opposition underestimate him.
Which is why MORE gun control laws are not going to change anything.
