I believe 911 calls are automatically ID’d as to location. If you call in my county and are hysterical or inarticulate, they do know your location and often will come and check it out.
“contacting the police” as per the article does not imply a 911 call, but a call to a non-emergency line.
They have to field so many crank calls from busybodies, that not taking names is normal.
She didn’t call the 911 number, she just called the office for information...probably framed as a hypothetical, about what she could do about him owning a legally purchased gun when he had no criminal record.

There is a non-emergency number that is used for ‘routine’, low priority service calls in Allen ... calling that number is different than dialing 911, one has to give them the call-back number.
She might have called 311 or a local police non-emergency number. Or maybe the report is wrong and she called the state police (TX DPS).
