Trump says Ratcliffe is no longer his pick for director of national intelligence

President Donald Trump says Rep. John Ratcliffe will no longer be nominated as director of national intelligence to replace Dan Coats. "Our great Republican Congressman John Ratcliffe is being treated very unfairly by the LameStream Media," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Rather than going through months of slander and libel, I explained to John how miserable it would be for him and his family to deal with these people John has therefore decided to stay in Congress where he has done such an outstanding job representing the people of Texas, and our Country. I will be announcing my nomination for DNI shortly." Trump privately voiced concern in recent days about Ratcliffe's ability to be confirmed as the next director of national intelligence, according to two people who spoke with him. Trump had been assured by allies before selecting Ratcliffe that he would be an easy pick, and so the president was surprised when Ratcliffe started facing issues from senators who had their own concerns.

I agree! I think he has a good political career ahead of him; being a member of Trumps cabinet could well end it. He seems to be doing a great job in Congress; and DNI is not really a stepping stone to greater things.

I used to work in Special Inquiry unit, did BIs for cabinet appointees-—— the bureau doesn’t “pass” or “fail”, they submit a summary to the President, to be used in Senate confirmation hearings.

He was sitting in his White House office and was told by the McCabe no attorney was necessary. Nobody would be thinking perjury trap in those circumstances at that time.

He also did not let the White House know of the interview before or after. I guess different people act differently.

First, no one get every pick right.

Second, one needs to know when it is time fight a battle and when it is a waste of time.

The post is simply a meaningless post that was being used by Coats to block access.

It really doesn't matter who runs it as long as he doesn't think he is the head of the intelligence apparatus.

This will be old news once a new head is chosen. The important thing was getting rid of Coats and next, the FBI chief.

No, those who seem to show up on any thread that shows Trump having a problem, to tell us what a failure he is.

They don't seem be around when his successes are discussed-hot shot.
