Trump says Ratcliffe is no longer his pick for director of national intelligence

President Donald Trump says Rep. John Ratcliffe will no longer be nominated as director of national intelligence to replace Dan Coats. "Our great Republican Congressman John Ratcliffe is being treated very unfairly by the LameStream Media," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Rather than going through months of slander and libel, I explained to John how miserable it would be for him and his family to deal with these people John has therefore decided to stay in Congress where he has done such an outstanding job representing the people of Texas, and our Country. I will be announcing my nomination for DNI shortly." Trump privately voiced concern in recent days about Ratcliffe's ability to be confirmed as the next director of national intelligence, according to two people who spoke with him. Trump had been assured by allies before selecting Ratcliffe that he would be an easy pick, and so the president was surprised when Ratcliffe started facing issues from senators who had their own concerns.

Trump should leave the DNI position vacant and announce that he (POTUS) will act as DNI, then hire Flynn as his “administrative assistant “.

If Trump were to name another Texan, Congressman Will Hurd, TX-23rd, I will be heard screaming very loudly. Excuse me for being suspicious that Hurd just announced he won’t seek re-election.

Ratcliffe is in one of the safest GOP House seats in the country.

Cause he is needed in Congress. Just imagine if he was unexpectedly replaced by a jerk like Hurd.

Hurd would be a terrible choice. Easily the most RINO in the Texas GOP delegation.

You insinuated it.

Well, yeah because neither of us know. I'd bet your membership in The Nest on it, but I'm still not positive.

Some people say...

Don't be afraid to say it.

I did say it.

No, you kinda didn't.

Well, yeah because neither of us know.

Talking out of both sides of your neck, again Preston. It's not a good look.

Looks like Trump agreed with my post a few days ago: “WHY does Trump put politicians in as heads of agencies? We elected him as a competent non-politician and expect him to do the same. Just because someone has the skill set to win elections does not mean he has the skill set to lead an organization. It’s probably the opposite. Remember Sessions.”

“Occam’s razor says he couldn’t pass the FBI background check.”

The FBI does not get a final say. The President can grant a clearance to his choice no matter what F-Troop thinks.

It’s not the deep state who has to approve DNI appointment, it’s the GD “Republicans” in the Senate! You know Trump would never have pulled Ratcliffe based on anything the media says, it’s obvious enough rat bastard Senators told him they wouldn’t support him. No point in proceeding if you don’t have the votes at the outset before the smearing begins.

Trump will pick someone just as anti-deep State and get him through.

Somebody as anti-deep State as Radcliffe will get the same treatment as Radcliffe.

Tell us who the Never Trumpers are hot shot? Anybody you disagree with?

I have never read one post by a never trumper on FR. Never.

You’d be right at home in a fascist state. If you cant stand reading anything that doesn’t conform to your rather narrow and limited intellect I suggest that you turn the channel.

There are a lot of other people besides Ratcliffe qualified for the DNI posting and it would be likely more difficult replacing Ratcliffe in the House. I prefer to see the upside.

If you trust the same people that torpedoed Radcliffe to approve another anti Deep State guy, then yes.
