Schumer: We have to be tough on China
NY Post ^ | August 01 2019 | Bob Fredericks

Chuck Schumer offered some rare praise for President Trump on Thursday, amidst his decision to slap a 10% tariff on $300 billion worth of Chinese goods on Sept. 1.

“We have to be really tough on China. They’ve taken advantage of us,” he said. “America has lost trillions of dollars and millions of jobs because China has not played fair. And being tough on China is the right way to be.”

Schumer is a frequent critic of the president and his trade policies.

Chuckie should use paper-plates if he wants to be rough on China. /sarc

This POS couldn’t fight his way out of a wonton bag. The Red Chinese laugh at him as a “kowtow” boy.

I hate to say it, but this issue will only get bigger, and bigger, and bigger.

Trump seems to have good instincts about China.

However there are those he is getting advice from, who are frankly on the wrong side.

Trump, continue to get tougher, and tougher, and tougher with China.

Frankly not only is it better for America, but it will also win over lots, and lots of Democrats for your re-election.

(I know, that is not why you do things, but on this particular issue I firmly believe being tougher with China will be very good for your re-election).

And it is long, long overdue.

BOTH parties have been selling out, forever.

30 years now.

It is time.

Schumer’s M.O. has ALWAYS been to scan newspapers for popular subjects and then make strident statements for or against them, in order to appear caring and effective. In this case, he is riding on Trump’s coattails.

I think he thinks the tariffs on China are a longer term problem for the economy, which if it causes a downturn will hurt Trump’s reelection chances. That’s why he’s supportive.

China is making a mistake dragging this out. Decisions are being made about sourcing that will hurt for years even if they come to the table tomorrow.

I think he thinks the tariffs on China are a longer term problem for the economy,

Tariffs are in the long term GREAT for the US economy and raise a lot of revenue! It is the best LONG term strategy there is. THAT IS WHY THE REST OF THE WORLD PRACTICES MERCANTILISM.

Make the tariffs uniform, across the board and permanent.
