Executive Director of House Dems’ Campaign Arm Resigns amid Backlash over Lack of Diversity

The executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) resigned Monday after Democratic lawmakers and DCCC staffers lashed out publicly at the organization’s leadership over their failure to prioritize racial diversity.

Allison Jaslow announced her resignation during an emergency meeting that was held on Monday morning in response to calls from staffers and lawmakers for an “immediate restructuring” of the group’s senior leadership, Politico reported.

Democratic representatives Vicente Gonzalez and Filemon Vela of Texas specifically called for Jaslow’s resignation in a statement provided to Politico on Sunday.

“The DCCC is now in complete chaos,” Gonzalez and Vela said in their statement. “The single most immediate action that Cheri Bustos can take to restore confidence in the organization and to promote diversity is to appoint a qualified person of color, of which there are many, as executive director at once. We find the silence of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on this issue to be deafening.”

There will never be enough diversity until they are all of color. Preferably black from what I can see.

Isn’t that interesting? A Republican freed them of course.

It was the dems though that figured out how to exploit them the bestest and mostest.

Idiots. All they see is “color”, regardless of merit and quality. That’s as “racist” as it gets.

I have a dream. That one day people will be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

IMHO, the people of color causing the disturbance want promotions, not to work for a person of color. They will be even more pissed when the DCCC hires a person of color as their boss.

I thought race, to these incoherent imbeciles, was only a social construct. Sounds like they’re doing a lot of social construction.

Mercifully, the state Republican Party I worked for was free of infighting based on race. We had our faults but were focused on getting our people elected — which we were quite good at.

That’s great. It was great that you worked for them in getting Rs (hopefully Cs too) elected.

We just lost our house member here (staten island and small part of brooklyn that KILLS US) and I should look into helping to win it back.

Trump won 57 percent on staten island but the Brooklyn part of the district is getting worse and worse

Leadership matters greatly. My state (Florida) benefitted greatly from having a superb Chairman who was a former state senator and businessman who knew politics. He hired capable and dedicated professionals for the senior staff, raised the money to run a large and effective campaign operation, and helped in candidate recruitment.

Well then I would think it’s a good thing for us that dems are giving positions based on diversity rather than talent.

If you believe that, you’re racist. That’s the official academic view today. Tough to keep up without a program.
