10-year-old boy charged with assault after dodgeball injury: 'Our kids are racially targeted'

The mom of a 10-year-old boy received the shock of her life recently: a phone call from her local juvenile court, explaining that her son would be charged with aggravated assault, months after a playground game of dodgeball at his elementary school.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Cameishi Lindley, mother of soon-to-be-fifth-grader Bryce Lindley, told 7 Action News about the call, received from the Wayne County Juvenile Court in Canton, Mich., on July 24.

Now, because the boy being punished is black and the boy who was injured is white, some critics are calling the incident racist, while others — including celebrity comedian DL Hughley, who called the charge “ridiculous” — are coming to the boy’s general defense.

I’ve witnessed some cray cray stuff on school yards. Several yoots banging basketballs against white kids head and standing there laughing at the kid.
Kid knows full well he can’t do or say anything, fear of beatdown.

Terrible. Breaks my heart every time I see that video of my son in the 5th grade.......

I don’t know if any kind of racism existed in this circumstance. And, I don’t care to know the races of the kids involved. I do know there is no crying in dodgeball!

“...says her son had a previous medical condition that made him susceptible to head injuries.”

Noticed that also. What the H was the kid playing dodge ball for? Either mom fell down not letting the teacher/school know that critical info; the teacher had the info but fell down letting the kid play; or the game was a pickup game without teacher’s knowledge. Maybe the kid shouldn’t have been on the field at all....or wasn’t supposed to be.

Got to be more to the story. We played dodgeball up until 6th grade and yes, intimidation and bloody faces were not all that uncommon.

In 7th grade they upped the aggression level and we began playing team handball in place of dodgeball. I suffered my first broken nose in PhysEd that year.

I copied important facts about this:

The situation began back on Apr. 29, when Bryce received a one-day suspension from Ruth Eriksson Elementary, in Canton, for allegedly hitting a classmate in the face with a ball during a game of dodgeball. The child reportedly sustained a concussion....
The mother.... alleges to 7 Action News that this particular injury was no accident, adding that he “sustained facial tissue damage to his face. He had a black eye and a bruised nose.”

The case, Wayne County’s assistant prosecuting attorney Maria Miller tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “was evaluated by our Juvenile Prosecuting Unit, and it was determined that there was enough evidence to for us to charge aggravated assault.”

Most kids I knew in school ended up with broken bones or stitches at some point.

Yes, and again it seems to me many on FR are not reading the article, although there STILL is not enough info to me to turn this into a court case.

The suspension is an interesting tidbit.

I supervised games of dodgeball for many years.

None of the students I supervised ever sustained injuries like this from a game of dodgeball.

The rules are also that you are to throw below the waist.

Why is it that the media seems to push so hard against white people?
There was enough evidence from a juvenile prosecuting unit. So why is the media trying to make this a race war?
This same media didn’t seem to give much attention to the Jussie Smollett hate crime. Or the two black brothers who aided him in his deceitful lie.

We used billiard balls, but that was back in the ‘50s.

As a high school kid, I was enchanted with the Beatles music. Then, in the Army, the First Sergeant “volunteered” me for an endurance test that included sleep deprivation and the constant blasting of Yellow Submarine in my headset. To this day, Yellow Submarine gives me PTSD-like flashbacks. The test conditioned me, all right. I hate, HATE Beatles music.

The defense of the accused seems to be based entirely on supposition of what the activists think happened.

If a kid intentionally hurt another kid, that’s possibly criminal. It’s a juvie crime. Hardly the end of the world.

If the principal saw a black eye and a bruised nose, then he should have called the police. Period. No schoolyard dodgeball game should cause those injuries.

Sure but if it was the other way around they would be calling for whites head. DL Hughley is as racist as they come.

From the article: “She says that her son had already experienced similar incidents ...
The case, Wayne County’s assistant prosecuting attorney Maria Miller tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “was evaluated by our Juvenile Prosecuting Unit, and it was determined that there was enough evidence to for us to charge aggravated assault.”

This suggests the black kid(s) were doing it repeatedly. That IS bullying, deliberate and assault.

since it is months later that the mother of the injured boy is brining this up, could it be that later someone in the child’s family seriously injured him and they are blaming the injury on the dodge ball incident?

Maybe a relative rammed the boy’s head into a wall or something.

There is a literal fake hate crimes site
http://fakehatecrimes.org/

Thousands of documented entries. And every fake event is used to justify discriminating against “evil” whites and men.

Or they waited until school was out to file the charges so the kid can’t be further abused by black bullies?
Or they’re filing the charges to get the white kid out of a school where he’s suffered repeated attacks by blacks, one resulting in a concussion?
