“Let me just be very clear,” Kamala Harris tells Meghan McCain right before she does the exact opposite. It’s rare to see an experienced politician contradict him/herself in the same appearance, but Harris manages to do almost within the same breath. When McCain declares that Harris is for decriminalization, Harris objects, saying “I am not in favor of decriminalizing.” In the very next sentence, Harris then says “we’re not going to treat people who are undocumented and cross borders as criminals.”
If that’s Harris’ idea of “very clear,” it explains a lot about her campaign:

Kamala Harris is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, not for the presidency of MENSA.
The word “decriminalize” has five syllables, which is way too long for Democratic voters to comprehend. So there’s no reason for her not to use it, no matter how foolishly.
She could legitimately say, “I’m almost a quarter black and proud of it.” Her “black” Jamaican father clearly isn’t even half black. She sees blackness as her hoped for ticket to the White House. She’s much more South Asian than black, but that’s not so popular in leftist politics. And of course she totally ignores her white heritage.
I wonder if the Democrats will ever champion an actual African-American for the presidency, considering American blacks are their strongest constituency. They seem to prefer foreign “blacks” with heavy white admixture. Just like they seem to prefer kowtowing to left leaning rich European nations than paying any attention to struggling African ones, regardless of their rhetoric.

I think that’s just a fancy lawyer/politician way of saying she won’t enforce the law.
Translation from Democrat-speak: she's not in favor of removing the law from the books, she would just not enforce or prosecute, as long as the people breaking the law are her allies.
Something like how assault with a deadly weapon is technically against the law, but Antifa gets a pass from Democrat-controlled local governments.
Now, if we suddenly got a bunch of white South African refugees crossing the border and there's a risk they might support Republicans, she would order THEM to be shot on sight.

What she just said is that she is not in favor of changing the law, she will just refuse to uphold the law.

What she means is, people who vote *for* her shouldn’t be arrested, but the laws should be kept on the books, just in case she needs to use them against her opponents.

The multi-ethnic Kamala Harris claiming to be an African American is like Elizabeth Warren claiming to be a member of the Cherokee tribe.
Then there’s Joe Biden who claims to be a moderate even though he’s adopted most of the far-leftist views of his fellow Democratic presidential hopefuls.
At least Bernie Sanders hasn’t yet claimed to be a Presbyterian, though he’s gone out of his way to hide his Jewishness.
Lying is what Democrats do, it’s part of their DNA. And Democratic voters have the character trait of not caring if they’re lied to.
