I don’t think that will be a problem. If someone pointed a gun at him, he “removed the threat” which is generally a legal defense.

I agree it would have been better to say nothing, but...if someone is pointing a gun at someone who doesn’t have one...that is a clear threat to life. And who knows if you, as someone in the back of the store, wouldn’t be next.
Still, better to say nothing. Give no interviews.

I have long believed everyone not convicted of a crime (and with a few other exceptions) should be allowed to open carry.
If I wanted to sling a rifle over my shoulder and walk to work, I should be able to.
An armed society would be a politer society.

“He violated Rule #1. Dont say a word. That may come back to haunt him.”
Everyone needs to know, and comply with, rule number 1, though some “experts” claim that “I was in fear for my life” is okay, and pointing out evidence is okay.

"Never said I was."
"Are you Mr John Redd, of Hawaii?"
"Yes. Honowuwu."

In Virginia, open carry has always been legal. No need for permits or permission.

“Two gentlemen?” I don’t think so. The hero shooter probably saved many lives by stopping the perps in their tracks.
Kudos to his courage to carry and to, ultimately, use his firearm to save lives.

Strange that ‘law enforcement’ didn’t state whether the robbers’ firearms were ‘legal’ or not.
If a good citizen removes the trash, who cares about the status of the firearm? I’m betting the clerk doesn’t.

That’s what works. So many juries now don’t have the stomach for it.

Let me guess, the bystander was white and the ones with the masks were Amish. No wonder the police arrested the bystander.

“He was doing what the police should have been doing.”
Naa, not in that situation - they can’t be everywhere 24/7 - that’s why concealed carry is so important. As long as the police don’t charge the guy, they’re doing their job, at least for this case.
