New York Times Fudged Book Sales Data To Torpedo ‘Justice on Trial’ Best-Seller Ranking
The Federalist ^ | July 18, 2019 | Sean Davis

Posted on 07/18/2019 2:26:06 PM PDT by detective

The New York Times fudged book sales data in order to deny top-five billing to the best-selling “Justice on Trial,” the definitive and deeply reported account of the nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which was written by Carrie Severino and Mollie Hemingway, a Senior Editor for The Federalist. Industry sales figures show that the New York Times ignored actual data on nationwide sales in order to depress the rankings not just for the Hemingway/Severino book, but also Mark Levin’s latest book on the corruption of modern journalism.

According to Publisher’s Weekly, the only public source of point-of-sale data on book sales, “Justice on Trial,” was the top-selling non-fiction book published over the last week. Tara Westover’s blockbuster memoir “Educated” was the top-selling non-fiction overall according to data from NPD Bookscan, but is excluded from Publisher’s Weekly’s list since it was first published over a year ago.

Mark Levin’s “Unfreedom of the Press” came in at #2 on the best-selling list, followed by David McCullough’s “The Pioneers” at #3, “Three Women” by Lisa Taddeo at #4, and Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” at #5. Hemingway’s and Severino’s book outsold each of those books placed ahead of it on the New York Times list, according to nationwide sales data.

In the NYT the news is fake and the book sales for the best sellers is fake. Everything in that paper is just one lie after another.

What about the book written by that advice columnist woman, who accused Trump of rape? How is her book doing?

Isn’t that solid grounds for a civil case?

Interfering with sales or some such?

I think Michael Savage casually mused about that a few weeks ago. It does seem like a crime to interfere with someone's ability to engage in commerce and make a living at an enterprise.

Many millions of dollars go to the Howard Stern and other types and not to the number 20 books---and what if some no.20 books were actually truly doing better at first but were sunk on the lists deliberately so the stores and websites would not bother promoting them further?

And the top TV shows since the 1970s were places to live or die for authors. Store employees had people watch the shows and write down mentions of books and authors so more cartons of books could be rush ordered and the staff would nod and say "yes, right over here..." for a book everyone described but couldn't recall the title or author.

As of now, “Justice on Trial” is the number one best-selling non-fiction book on Amazon. And I hope it stays that way because, to me, it was a wonderful book.

Just like Donald Trump running for president, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh had to fight off the combined forces of the lying, cheating, character-assassinating Democrats and the mainstream media, while at the same time being undermined by weak Republicans like the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee who acceded to every demand by the Democrats for unprecedentedly long delays, thereby giving the Democrats/MSM an unprecedentedly long time to lie and cheat and move their character-assassinating attempts forward.

All seemed lost until, finally, Brett Kavanaugh was allowed to speak and make his case — which he did brilliantly enough to win the day.
