President Trump said Thursday that a U.S. warship had destroyed an Iranian drone in Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions between the two nations.

I read the drone they shot down was a field test unit that had been scheduled to return to the states for decommissioning. It was, allegedly, put back in service and flown over an area that would probably cause some reaction. The article reporting this said that it would have forced the Iranians to turn on their radars covering potential US targets, which could then be located and characterized. (Who knows. But it is an interesting theory.)

This is an effort to jack up oil prices so Iran can prop up it’s totalitarian regime awhile longer.
