We live in a culture desperate for personal fame. I can’t recall which character said it, but in Shakespeare’s play, the mother of one of Julius Caesar’s assassins tells her son, (approximately) “If you can not achieve fame on your own, you can achieve it by killing someone famous.” In our germophobic culture licking something someone else will put in their mouth is like playing Russian Roulette with someone who has no idea it’s happening. The idea is to achieve “fame” through going viral. (No pun on “viral.”)

As to what disease the girl may or may not have had, obviously that was not reported in any of the news coverage, because no one on the thread mentioned it, including you.
Like I said before, there should be punishment, but the actual disease and the risk of contagion needs to be taken into account, too.
