This is the worst article with incomplete statements with no conclusion exception that Biden is an ASS Clown as AR-15s are great security 👍

Please educate yourself. This has already been put to the test. Hint: the 5.56/.223 Rem is a FINE caliber for home defense.

GMTA. See my post above this one.

With four invaders busting through the house, I would like something in belt fed, at the end of the hall.

At least deviants won’t be robbing and killing anymore. The other two, well, the odds aren’t good.

Your understanding of overpenetration risk, vis a vis buckshot and .223, is exactly backwards. Much testing has been done, the results are clear.

...was getting ready to say. Most just parrot what they've read in their favorite gun blog. That entire overpenetration myth was busted long ago. :-)

My problem with the AR for home defense is pass through capability with the ammo.

The OneStrike frangible jacketed ammo seems very promising. Looks like it gives about six inches of penetration, dumps all of its energy into the target and makes a real mess.

“If you need more than 5 better learn how to shoot. “

Would you plan to get in a gunfight with 4 potentially armed men with a gun that holds 5 rounds if you had a another choice? Are you really good enough to feel confident that you’re going take them out of the fight while they’re shooting back at you with basically one shot each? You are good.

Well, you’d be rather technically wrong in your position. Even 55 or 62 FMJs will and do fragment at conversational distances even through simple sheet rock/frame construction. 33 cal lead alloy balls do not. There s so much good testing info on the net I’ll let you look it up. But in summary, a high velocity 224 diameter bullet ( there are better than fMJs out there too) does wonderfully horrible things to what it connects with, but unlike malleable lead alloy buck ( maybe #4Bs would be best), is much less likely to penetrate excessively.

Anyways, whatever you use, guard yourself and yours well!

My only concern with an AR in 5.56 for home defense is the muzzle blast and potential for hearing loss. Certainly staying alive however trumps preserving your hearing in a life or death situation. In my opinion there exists a Goldilocks gun for home defense; the pistol caliber AR carbine (or other pistol caliber carbines like the Ruger PCC). The pistol caliber carbine retains all the benefits of the AR, light, handy, maneuverable, high mag capacity, etc. but loaded up with expanding self defense ammo you limit the potential for pass through on a bad guy and penetration of typical building materials seems on par with typical 5.56 self defense rounds and as an added bonus you can still listen to Zeppelin.

No punctuation marks in the first names. And they all have ‘slave names’. The baby mommas must not have been very Woke.

Kel-Tec has some nice stuff out right now.

I’m debating either an RBD in 5.56 or RFB in 7.62NATO - both bull-pups and easily maneuverable inside the home.

Thank you for clarity!

We tested 55gr XM193 years ago and that crap couldn’t penetrate but 2 two blocks of hardiplank before it fragmented.

Now 5.45x39 Russian - that stuff will go through 12 boards and break a cinderblock at the end.

A lot of us forget about the muzzle blast/flash and concussion sound that a measly 5.56 exhibits - indoors.

It will permanently destroy your hearing inside.

Even shotguns are freakin’ loud as hell.

9mm carbine like a Beretta CX4 Storm or AR pistol just might be the best for HD. Need to give it more thought.
Very good points!

“It’s good training ammo.”

True dat. But you can’t shoot it at indoor ranges around here. I picked up a couple thousand Lake City surplus rounds from Ammoman a few years back. $119/m if I remember right. All I wanted was the brass.

So when we shoot it at the outdoor place we Police it up, bring it home, and stuff a 62 grain soft point pill on them over some WC846.

FBI standard for minimum penetration (of calibrated ballistic gel, and through multiple layers of denim fabric) is 12”.
