President Trump announced Thursday he would sign an executive order to obtain data about the U.S. citizenship and non-citizenship status of everyone living in the United States.

In a Rose Garden ceremony, Trump said he would drop efforts to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census. Instead, he'll sign an executive order directing all U.S. agencies to provide the Department of Commerce all information they have on the U.S. citizenship, non-citizenship and immigration status.

"We have great knowledge in many of our agencies," Trump said, flanked by Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. "We will leave no stone unturned."

This was AWESOME news!! And is MUCH better than having the Citizenship Question on the Census.

Why? Because the real issue is about Congressional Apportionment. At the end of the statement AG Barr referenced a court case, that case is Alabma V US Dept of Commerce

Alabama is suing the Dept of Commerce to force it to not include illegal aliens in the counts use for Congressional Apportionment. This is why the Citizenship Question was needed. If Alabama wins then there must be a means to excluding illegal aliens from the counts or the courts would through the case out as moot, because there was no legal remedy even if the plaintiff proved their case.

One of the weaknesses of the Alabama case is that it is uncertain that even with the Citizenship question on the Census would Commerce be able to come up with a number accurate enough for the court. It was questionable if it could, but now they are saying that they can come up with a much more accurate number of Citizens/Residents/Aliens and that can only strengthen the Alabama case!

To Anyone questioning how important this is, the effect of illegal aliens on the 2000 Census was nine congressional seats moving to other states. States gaining seats because of illegals were CA(+6), TX(+1), FL(+1), NY(+1). All states that lost seats (1 a piece) were carried by Trump in 2016. California would have had SIX fewer seats in Congress had illegals not been counted for Apportionment, and you know there are many times more illegals in the US now, so you can image what the impact would be. This is the real reason that Democrats love illegal immigration, and provide sanctuary cities/states!

Sometimes the best path is straight ahead. they should have re-justified the day the supreme said that’s what they should do and then ask the court to rule directly instead of 3 circuit courts.

Trump lost when he couldn’t get the citizenship question in the U.S. census. However, the information gained by a citizenship count could be useful in lawsuits such as Alabama vs US Department of Commerce. So it may not be a complete loss if the citizenship count could help in updating voter rolls.

If the government does not use its legitimate tools of force to bring some justice in the face of all this corruption - the people will likely be compelled to "use force" themselves. IOW, law and civil order will eventually break down. I hope Trump knows this. We don't want a civil war in this country - it's up to the GOVERNMENT, RIGHT NOW, to start acting responsibly and arrest/ jail some people, or it will be left to us - and things will spiral out of control, I fear......

Let's hope some serious Law Enforcement "actions" start happening, regarding abuse of Intelligence Agencies' power and abuse of immigration policies ("sanctuary" cities) in the next 12 months.

Things are getting very bad. I hope Trump and Barr know this.....

The use of the numbers for apportionment of Congressional districts is a whole different matter. In addition to US citizens, we have at any one time 15 to 20 million legal permanent residents (green card holders) who have all the rights and benefits of citizens save voting. IMO they should be included in the apportionment of Congressional districts. Regardless, there will be a huge legal fight that would go to SCOTUS to settle who should be counted for that purpose.

The most important outcome of the Trump attempt to get a count is transparency. We don’t know how many illegal aliens there are in this country and where they live. Our USG databases should give us a fairly accurate estimate. The public will be surprised by the numbers.

In a state like CA, the illegal population provides the state with 3 to 5 additional Congressional seats. When you look at individual districts like Maxine Waters’s district, you will see far lower vote totals compared to the average totals nationally. This is largely a function of fewer citizens living in her district. The Brits had a name for such districts. They called them “ rotten boroughs.”

There is only one solution to illegal aliens. Keep them from stepping on our soil and deporting the ones here. It would take 25,000 more soldiers using less than lethal force, but it can be done.
