AUSTIN, Texas -- More than 250,000 people in Travis County live at or below the poverty line. That means a single person earns roughly $1,000 monthly, $2,000 for families.

This is so good,” says 53-year-old Michelle Williams.

Williams helps provide for her family, with four children ranging from ages four to 13.

“And next week it’ll be another one so that’ll be 5. Yeah it’s a struggle,” she adds.

Oh, puleeze. We're $100 over the poverty line and have always been. It takes 4 months income to pay the property taxes so if that was counted we'd be waaaaay below. It's manageable if you have half a brain. Don't give me that line about it's a struggle and then pop out another kid next week. Keep your bleepin' knees together!!!

How much bling does Williams have? How many iphones accounts does she have? Where else is she getting help? Are her kids getting feed by the school this summer (ages 0-21)? Sure, feeding those kids "things like cereal, snacks for the kids, granola bars—they’re healthy, they gave me noodles, some mac and cheese,” no matter if it is FREE!!! is not healthy by any means.

These gimmie dats are sickening. What's worse are their enablers.

Wouldn’t doubt it. How many of these families are illegals. The articles doesn’t state. They want these people to come to the US and then want us to pay for their upkeep.

I would love to know how many of those 250K are overweight? Obese? Have adult-onset type 2 diabetes? hypertension?

She helps provide for her family???? By being on welfare and popping out fatherless kids with reckless abandon??

Why haven’t her tubes been tied yet?

And she has absolutely no shame, instead she unashamedly publicizes her irresponsible behavior - and gets rewarded for it by our insipid “compassion” mongers.

We need to reintroduce big doses of shame in our society, but I don’t have much hope. Each day we’re going the other direction.

If the food comes from individuals, stores, etc, and NOT from Taxpayer’s wallets via government grants or subsidies I have no problem with it.

If that’s her real hair, that’s a boatload of money right there for coloring and straightening.
And food pantry food is the worst imaginable - by necessity, 100% packaged, processed, salty non perishable CRAP.

Too bad she isn’t struggling to keep her legs closed. Or to keep a husband with a jobbie job.

Any grocery store is DELIGHTED if they have a 1.5 % profit at he end of the fiscal year.

IF grocery stores are giving way food to those who cannot keep their legs together & cannot feed what they already have sitting at the table, then, such food given away raises the cost of the food YOU & I buy at any given grocery store.

IT DOES COME OUT OF YOUR POCKET.

I would wager a bet that their curled nails, hammer head toes, crusty feet and ever-changing-color do’s are pristine. How do they do that??

I worked at a state run mental health center. A local grocery chain donated their baked goods that were at the sell by date to the center for our clients.

The breads and pastries would have been tossed into the dumpster by the grocery if not donated.

You missed this part - she's getting food stamps because she's under the poverty line and has four kids. How is she only getting $20? Unless she means $20 a day, which is more like $600 a month in free food...

If she 'helps provide', I would assume there's someone else doing the main providing. Where's dad? Or does the article author means we the taxpayers are providing, and she 'helps' a little with that?

BINGO.

I buy for 2 seniors, most meals I can get 2-3 meals out of. Does the idiot know how to Cook? Budget, use coupons, to bring her bill down?

I had a social worker tell me only illegals were getting food stamps, while white, black elderly might at best see $20 a month in Food Stamps, not worth the gas to go get them. At $1,200 per month they actually Make to much. A now deceased friend on DSSI got $10 a month in food stamps, for him to get his wheelchair in the truck and go after it, it would have cost more in gas.
