AOC calls Nancy Pelosi ‘outright disrespectful’ for singling out women of color

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued her war of words with Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday night, calling the Speaker of the House “outright disrespectful” for criticizing women of color.

The Bronx Democrat was reacting to Pelosi’s repeated attempts at reigning in some of the more left-wing members of her caucus and chastising the freshman reps for tweeting too much.

“When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Washington Post.

“But the persistent singling out — it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful — the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

AFAIK “People of color” can mean either african-americans specifically, or people of non-caucasians or non-european descent in general, depending on the context.

Pelosi took a veiled jab at Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff in response to the dust-up between Democratic leadership and first-term members.

Chakrabarti brazenly tweeted: “All these articles want to claim what a legislative mastermind Pelosi is, but I'm seeing way more strategic smarts from freshman members like @AOC, @IlhanMN , @RashidaTlai and @AyannaPressley. Pelosi is just mad that she got outmaneuvered (again) by Republicans,”

Pelosi, who was walking past reporters, stopped in her tracks to let reporters know that “by the way, our caucus is very upset about some of the comments that have come from some of the staff of .......” Pelosi stopped short of saying Ocasio-Cortez, adding, “Perhaps you are not aware of what is going on?”

Her interview w/ NYT's Maureen Dowd gave Pelosi a venue to vent her wrath.
She lit into freshmen Democrats AOC, Omar, Tlaib and Pressley b/c they voted against the immigration bill.
As Pelosi was badmouthing the froshes, her targets were at border camps detailing their horrors to the public.

Nancy is hearing from the Dem rank-and-file. Nancy is scurrying to cover her ***, downplaying the amount of power the
froshes have amid a flurry of media attention Nancy herself arranged.

“All these people have is their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi said .....intimating America never heard of them
