For the first time in our nation's history, there is now a federal department spending an average of more than $100 billion per month. No, it is not the Department of Defense, which is charged with the core federal responsibility of defending us from foreign enemies. It is the Department of Health and Human Services, which, if Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont has his way, will run the "Medicare for All" program. As it now stands, HHS runs Medicare for many and Medicaid for more. "In 2019, the program will cover an estimated 61 million persons (52 million aged and 9 million disabled)," the Congressional Research Service said of Medicare in a report published in May. "Medicaid is a means-tested entitlement program that finances the delivery of primary and acute medical services as well as long-term services and supports (LTSS) to an estimated 75 million people at a cost to states and the federal government of $616 billion in FY2018," CRS said in a report published in June. "CBO also estimates that federal Medicare spending (after deduction of beneficiary premiums and other offsetting receipts) will be about $637 billion in 2019, accounting for about 14% of total federal spending and 3% of GDP," said CRS. "Mandatory spending typically accounts for the majority of the HHS budget," CRS explained in a report published in March. "Two programs — Medicare and Medicaid — are expected to account for 86% of all estimated HHS spending in FY2019," it said.

Pay for one doctors visit per year. The doc tells the patient what to stop doing. Fear is a great motivator.
This national debt must be addressed and be addressed very soon. IMO the three expenditures which have contributed most to the debt and require immediate attention are:
1. the much-to-generous welfare payments. There is no reason the taxpayer should provide cars, TV in every room, cell phones for every adult and teenager, vacation trips, etc. for those in need. Subsistence does not require these.
2. Providing military support to Europe, Asia, and Africa; and fighting their wars. The weak countries may need help, but the Brits, France, and Germany should take care of European defense and the Mideast problems.
3. Foreign aid to almost every country in the world, including some who are professed enemies. And it is given with no strings attached and therefore in many cases is completely wasted. Unless foreign aid can be directly tied to a need or vital interest of our country, it must cease!
Overwhelm the system is their goal.
1. Obamacare
2. Import diseases back into the country.
Get rid of Medicare.

‘Foreign Aid’ encompasses a number of programs, many of which are useless and could easily disappear. There are a few, however, such as foreign military financing (FMF), that have benefits few see.
Just because we may sell a weapon system to a foreign nation doesn’t mean it comes with the same internal components as our system with the same name.
Nahhh, all we need to do is import a billion more illegal aliens and the sales taxes they pay will eliminate the national debt!
If you receive money from any government entity that is NOT for goods and/or services rendered, it’s welfare.
So all of the monies I have paid unwillingly into systems like this for 46 years, Social Security and Medicare, if I get something back from that I am on welfare? You want to shut it down (I'm fine with that), just break out your checkbook. I'm sure we can come up with a figure that's amicable.

Are you ready to eat what the gov't would claw back from you for payouts funded by debt? Because if we did the math and settled accounts in one shot like that you would be in the hole and writing Uncle Sam a check.
Youre not getting something back. Your something from the last 46 years was long time wasted. Youre present something is stolen from my kids. The average person recieves $.70 for every $1 that went in. If you had been able to invest the same amount on your own you would have 7-11 times Something and we wouldnt have to worry about it now and my kids wont have to be concerned about it then.
Medicare is not medicaid. And yes, medicaid is welfare.
