PARIS (AP) Frances Defense Ministry acknowledged Wednesday that U.S.-made missiles captured from the self-styled Libyan National Army belonged to the French military.
A statement said the missiles were originally intended to protect French anti-terrorism forces in Libya and so did not violate an arms embargo.
France denied transferring the missiles to Hifters forces and said the Americans had been informed.

With friends like the French, who needs enemies??
France denied transferring the missiles to Hifters forces
So how did they get them?
L
Same thing happened with two US helicopter shootdowns in Afghanistan:
The weapons used were OUR weapons.
The missiles had been transferred by Quatar, which was being used as a cutout for the CIA, which had intended the missiles for a different project.
As if there are many versions to it. It wasn’t Martians who brought it.
Hifter is our man over there.
He kicked ISIS out of the Eastern Libyan oil fields, and is opposed to the Muslim Brotherhood and their front groups.
He lived in Northern Virginia for many years, and has a long and allied relationship with the US Government.
It is nice to see the French supporting this effort. They have long (and pretty consistently) protected Western interests and opposed islamist power grabs in their sphere of influence in Africa. They led the successful effort to expel al Queda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) from power in Northern Mali.
Wonder if the Stinger that was used to bring down a CH-47 in Afghanistan was from this batch? (the serial number was traced to a batch controlled by the CIA)
I'll disagree....putting surface to air weapons in the hands of insurgents is not a good idea, even if the insurgents are considered friendlies.
“putting surface to air weapons in the hands of insurgents is not a good idea”
The article only mentions anti-tank missiles (Javelins and Kornets). They need those. ISIS regularly armors their suicide vehicles.
You sure it was a missile?
I read it was really a helicopter LOl
