A federal judge in New York said on Tuesday that the Justice Department cannot swap out its legal team in the census citizenship question case.
"Defendants provide no reasons, let alone 'satisfactory reasons,' for the substitution of counsel," wrote District Judge Jesse Furman, citing upcoming deadlines.
"As this Court observed many months ago, this case has been litigated on the premise -- based 'in no small part' on Defendants' own 'insist(ence)' -- that the speedy resolution of Plaintiffs' claims is a matter of great private and public importance."

Reasons? Incompetent? Fired? Retired? Heck, just because. That should be good enough. Besides since when is it a judge’s concern over who someone picks to represent them so long as they are licensed and in good standing?
Yes a 47-year old judge at that. I give credit to Obama for going youth on majority of his judges. We celebrate that trump gets many 60 year olds appointed. We have zero long term outlook at all.

The Court cannot tell a party who it can use as counsel. This judge (an Obama appointee, of course) is waaaaaay out of bounds. When the judiciary becomes political, the rule of law is over. We are pretty much at that stage, and only bad shit can be the result.
The judges want to make the total final decision on what you read,eat,watch, and where you live. Plus how you worship and learn in school. And what you allowed to say and where.
Otherwise, this is a free country.
It is time that these damn judges are grought under control. They have the attitude that they can do anything they want with impunity — and so far they are right. I believe Roberts is overall in charge of the judiciary branch of the government but it is obvious he is too corrupt (Obamacare, Census) or lazy to do anything about judges that are making political rulings and saying their rulings apply to the entire country rather than just their jurisdiction. This is the only branch of the government that is not accountable to the people and they are abusing that.
This judge is the same one that ruled against the census question to begin with. He’s basically the notorious Hawaiian Judge, just for the census question rather than the travel moratorium. A one man Obama-appointed #Resistance.

The court absolutely does have this authority if it was contended that the change of attorneys would delay the case. I’m not saying the judge is t a sack, just not because of this
