Trump defends Acosta amid Epstein scrutiny

President Trump on Tuesday defended Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, who is facing calls to resign over his role in a non-prosecution agreement with billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein in a sex-crimes case.

Trump told reporters at the White House that Acosta has been a “very good” Labor secretary and that Acosta probably wished he had handled the Epstein plea deal “a different way.”

The president added that he would be looking at the case “very carefully.”

“I feel very badly, actually, for Secretary Acosta because I’ve known him as being somebody that works so hard and has done such a good job,” Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with the emir of Qatar.

Trump downplayed Acosta's role in Epstein's 2008 plea deal, saying, "there were a lot of people involved in that decision, not just him.”

The latest lie being spread is that then assistant U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta was entirely responsible for the Obama administration officials and the Democrat politicians who refused to investigate or prosecute Jeffrey Epstein.

Just another assault on our president. The left is trying out a new batch of exceedingly smelly, evil mud to sling. Their goal is to taint the president with foul, and evil smelling mud to cause the Evangelicals, and as many others to either stay home next election, or turn against our president.

Wrong.

Acosta was THE US ATTY. THE Boss. The guy who has to approve, and has the ultimate authority to disapprove ANY plea bargain.

Acosta gave a strong case away for no good reason. He is a Corrupt dirtbag which trump should never have hired. But then we all know how bad trumps hiring decisions have been.

Attempting to defend this dirtbag pedophile protector is absurd.

Yes Acosta is now the story. Every news outlet FNC included is using Acosta to put the stink on Trump now. FNC even used a 2002 quote where Trump said “he liked Epstein and we both like beautiful women”. This is a bomb on the White House, make no mistake.

Acosta’s best defense, if true, is to name the boss who told him to go easy on Epstein. I’ve seen an article where he supposedly stated he was told to stand down and wind up the case by a higher up. The natural question is, “Who?”

Wouldn’t it be delicious if he could say “Mueller made me do it”, or “It was because of Brennan and the CIA that I was told to stand down?”

Never stays long a day or 2 later the truth comes out.
Than the media tries to unsuccessfully bury it

Waiting for the Trump Tweet referencing Bill Clinton’s 26 Trips on the Lolita Express to Orgy Island (and his denials of it).

Maybe Bill was just discussing Golf and Grandkids with Epstein on those Flights, just like he did with former AG Lynch on the Tarmac.

I don't remember Pelosi calling for Acosta to step down at the time of Epstein's sentencing...

““Is the Epstein case going to cause a problem [for confirmation hearings]?” Acosta had been asked. Acosta had explained, breezily, apparently, that back in the day he’d had just one meeting on the Epstein case. He’d cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein’s attorneys because he had “been told” to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. “I was told Epstein ‘belonged to intelligence’ and to leave it alone,” he told his interviewers in the Trump transition, who evidently thought that was a sufficient answer and went ahead and hired Acosta. (The Labor Department had no comment when asked about this.)”

Trump downplayed Acosta’s role in Epstein’s 2008 plea deal, saying, “there were a lot of people involved in that decision, not just him.”

Trump knows who made the decision and who had to execute it. It wasn’t Acosta’s call to make in this case.
