Activist who faces jail for contempt of court says his life is at risk.
Tommy Robinson is set to ask President Donald Trump to give him emergency political asylum in the United States.
Last week, the activist was found in contempt of court over a Facebook Live broadcast of defendants in a criminal trial. Robinson and his supporters claim he was merely engaging in journalism in covering a sexual grooming gang case at Leeds Crown Court in May 2018.
Robinson now faces a maximum penalty of two years in jail.
However, he is set to ask for emergency political asylum in America over fears his life is at risk. Robinson told the BBC he was convicted “for who I am, not what I have done”.
Robinson is set to appear on both the Alex Jones Show today and Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show at some point this week to make the asylum request.
The United States Refugee Act of 1980, which is consistent with the United Nations’ 1967 Protocol on Refugees, provides for the resettlement of persons subject to persecution in their homelands and includes cases where persons are likely to face persecution for their “political opinion”.
Some of Robinson’s supporters have expressed fears that another spell in prison could represent a death sentence if he is incarcerated amongst a large Muslim jail population.
Last time the activist was in jail, he lost over 40 pounds due to concerns about the inmates preparing his meals. He also complained about being on the receiving end of physical and psychological abuse.

I hope he gets it. The UK, no longer a free country, is determined to destroy his life so they could protect their Muslim rapists.

That’s a VERY credible fear. Between the Muslims in British prisons and British authorities willingness to close their eyes, he wouldn’t come out of prison alive.
We let Somalis in, but don’t hold your breath on this one.
If Trump wasn’t there, this guy wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.
It will likely take his personal intervention.

Yeah. Think about this. He could illegally cross our border; end up in one of our “Concentration Camps”; and yet still be better off that he was in a British jail.
If Trump does it 100% guaranteed the left would spin it as “Trump protects racist”.

I believe Trump has already publicly supported him in the past? If so, this has a chance and would send a message to Europe.
But yeah, the media would of course exploit this but so what, nobody in the world of any mental capacity believes modern journalism.

That would be hilarious! Watching the left flip over Tommy requesting asylum while in Mexico would be fantastic. It would be epic if he walked across the border and requested it.
He should get asylum. The nice liberals want him dead for speaking truth to power.
The media could try but this President fights back.So I am not worried what the media says or does.
Timing would have been better if Trump could have done something on July 4th. But this week would still work.

When Alex Jones said last week Tommy Robinson was going to make an announcement today I thought he should say he is requesting asylum in the US. Unfortunately it won’t happen; just like it won’t happen for any individual white people now stuck in South Africa. I’m not trying to take digs at Trump or the few decent people in leadership and positions to publicly do something but in all fronts from politicians to media to the church conservative US leadership is pretty much null and pathetic. All because too afraid to be called racist which will be done regardless. Even among Christian conservatives almost zero would publicly decry what is going on in South Africa or to people like Tommy Robinson because they fear man and fear counting the cost of possibly losing material wealth or reputation.
Agreed. Tommy and South Africans would be better off asking Putin.
