Yes, of course. You do not have freedom of thought in the USA. You lose your job for not going along with insanity.
Why FreeRepublic is anonymous.
Freedom of Speech? a joke.
THAT was controversial?? Geez.... you know, I was actually going to apply there about 10 years ago, because I studied French in college and was having a heck of a time dealing with the little munsters in LAUSD. I don't remember why I didn't go for it, but now I can see I probably wouldn't have gotten past the interview process anyway.
Surely she would have anticipated such.
Having said that, I hope she can do to them what the bakers did to that other school, viz. sue them into oblivion.
Orwell LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!
Who is John Galt?
Their next Math teacher should embrace one of those cultures where the counting system goes:
one
two
a lot
It’s simple. It’s clean. It’s better than the Math we used to put someone on the Moon.
She was teaching MATH.
It’s not like she was teaching political science and was trying to indoctrinate the kids.
‘Private School, private rules’
Yup, you cant argue with that.
If flaming liberals want their kids to be the same, they can send them to a PRIVATE flaming liberal school.
It works the same the other way. If we want a sane education for our kids we would send them to a private school that spouses our views and beliefs.
So I think things are as they should be.
What is not alright is flaming liberals regressives imposing their views in PUBLIC schools.
That will get you the boot. Quickly!
I bet she has a really good case for a lawsuit.
It may be a private school. But I bet the rule that you can’t say anything positive about Western Civilization is not specified.
She will look back on this as a good thing that happened to her.
Until fairly recently, that would not have been considered a particularly conservative position. Pretty much everyone was on-board for that. What she stated are simply the facts. America is an extension of western civilization. The people who founded America and most of the people who have settled here are from western civilization. Our institutions are those of western civilization. Of course we have people from all over the world here, but none of the groups have had an impact on America that western civilization has — not even close. If schools want to teach about the contributions of non-westerners to America, that’s fine. But it has to be in the proper perspective.
What area the most developed non-western countries in the world? They are the ones that have adopted at least some aspects of western civilization.
If what she said is not in line with the “values” or philosophy of what the school teaches, what exactly does the school teach?
Some are more equal than others.
Tuition for the high school is $30,550 per year. A lot of money to never hear an opposing point of view.
It think California has a statute that forbids discrimination based on political beliefs.
Here’s my question.
Since when does “Western Civilization” mean “white people only”?
Last I checked, Spain, Italy, Greece, Slavic countries, Eurasia, northern Africa— in short, anywhere the Judeo-Christian tradition blossomed in the first 3 centuries C.E., are *included* in what we consider western civilization.
Thus olive-skinned and brown-skinned peoples have always been included in what we now call western civilization, not just the whites of northeastern Europe.
Furthermore, western civilization’s reach since the 3rd century (if by that we mean its ideology & influences) has spread even farther. Its influence is worldwide now, notwithstanding 3rd worlders’ attempts to resist or dismantle it.
