Kanye wipes the floor with David Letterman
The Spectator ^ | 6 July 2019 | James Delingpole

My plan to cut the BBC out of my life entirely is working well. Apart from the occasional forgivable lapse — that excellent Margaret Thatcher documentary; Pointless and Only Connect because they’re the only programmes we can all watch together as a family — I find that not watching or listening to anything the BBC does is making me calmer, happier and better informed.

I’m also learning stuff about myself that I never imagined possible. Like the fact that I have a massive man crush on the rap star Kanye West. Though I’ve long been a fan of his albums, I went right off him as a person a few years ago when he headlined Glastonbury and played quite the worst, most self-indulgent, dreary set I have ever had to endure: no decent tunes or hook, just Kanye the egotist and some glaring white lights shining full in your face as if to show how much he despised you.

But then I watched him on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction (Netflix) and I urge you to do the same, especially for the moment when he brilliantly wrongfoots his interviewer David Letterman. Letterman, you may recall, was just about the biggest talkshow host of the 1980s, 90s and Noughties. Then he retired, apparently to deal with some heart and anger-management problems, grow a snowy beard and reinvent himself as a dignified, nurturing father-confessor figure, looking like a bluesman, dressing like Karl Lagerfeld and acting like New York’s most expensive therapist.

I know, I know, people laugh at me, but I’m serious. I think in 2024 Kanye will be the GOP nominee.

While I think Kanye is one of many blacks who aren't afraid to speak their own minds and question the Democrat orthodoxy, all of that is outweighed by the fact that he's married to a Kardashian. If those women ever manage to take over the White House, it's all over.

That’s ‘wipes the floor’ in the sense of ‘heads exploded,’ ‘devastates,’ and ‘destroys.’ IOW, click-bait bloviation.

IOW, click-bait bloviation.

I think "bloviation" is an excellent word.

We should try to use it more around here.

He’s done more for the average working American in three years than the Bushes ever did in 12. He’s got my vote locked up!

The gap between what people say - and how beautifully they say it - and reality - has never been wider. Democrats overused focus groups and unconditional positive regard (fake empathy) - and the result was "Trump"... And like you my vote is locked in - for Trump - for reality, for results, and for 'actions speak louder than words'.... it's a new time.

After the first black President (BO) could and would America cast aside her prejudice and vote for another? Not saying he could not do it; just asking if he would be given the opportunity.

At this time, IF he were GOP nominee against the motley crew we now see before us; the RIGHT choice, even then, would be extremely difficult to make.

Well, we’ve had some nearly unstable guys in there before. Nixon, Jackson.

Also, I do think Kanye has mentally straightened out in the past 3 years. And I can hear “one” argument-—are we to punish someone for mental illness they once had all their lives?
...

Salient points, LS, I’d add one very useful tactic would be to let Kim and her Butt draw all the MSM attention like an eternal flame of a dumpster fire while Kanye gets tons of stuff done for the republic with no one watching but the right cabinet.

I didn’t expect it but did think there was a chance that he may run as a northern conservative Democrat. I believe there were discussions in the past about him possibly running as a DEMOCRAT. odd. I love the guy. He is the right man at the right time but we all would have rejected him in 1992 - 2008 in the GOP and the Dems would have entertained him. Now he holds the future of our Republic in his hands.

My opinion and it could be deeply flawed.
