This research is fine and all, but, the print/TV news outlets have been swaying votes via selective reporting for as long as I can remember. Are Google, et.al. really any different? Can regulations applied to internet keyword search algorithms, also be applied in equal measure to TV news journalism?? ...to print journalism?? And why waste time attacking an enemy stronghold head on, if there is a way to go around it??
Just saying, whatever power google has, the press has 10 to 100 times MORE power -- and it uses it.

Big Tech Can Shift Upwards of 15 million Votes with No One Knowing.
Lotta Dumbass going around.
Why can’t PDJT find some conservative billionaire friends who can work with Parlor(?) And Duckduckgo and then once a great rollout plan is hatched, then tweet it and ask us to do our part...
Somebody is looking to have their back scratched in a big way in return for this unregulated "in kind contribution".
I can tell you fairly precisely how many votes they shifted in 2018.
I call bullshit. October surprises have been affecting elections as long as there have been November elections. But this self absorbed ass cant know the effect with any precision - any more than one person can know anothers mind.
Just because voter opinions are now being influenced via high tech computer algorithms, doesnt make it any more effective or precise.
A well-timed October headline or TV political ad in 1964 had the potential of being every bit as devastating as these modern social media manipulations. In either case, tens of millions of people are being presented with a negative smear, hopefully too late for the target to mount a defense.
If anything, it could be argued that the old fashioned NYT headline or Network TV ad was far more devastating by virtue of its ability to reach a far more captive and trusting audience.
By contrast, the social media platforms of todays internet and the various cable TV news outlets reach highly fractured and self-selecting audiences.
Todays media audiences are as polarized as politics itself - those likely to vote to re-elect President Trump are watching completely different programs and choosing a completely different social media experience than those likely to vote to defeat him.
When the Johnson campaign ran the Daisy ad against Goldwater - depicting a cute little girl playing in a daisy field, while a sinister voice counted down to a mushroom cloud apocalypse - virtually EVERY voter saw it - because in 1964 there were only three TV channels and everyone watched all three.
And back then, entire families wholesomely watched prime time TV together, so a scary ad like that undoubtedly led to countless conversations in which parents attempted to explain the ad to their small children. Can you imagine anything more manipulative and far reaching then that?
Today, everyone has already seen everything - even the children. Everyones guard is up - everyone knows they are being preyed upon by the media. Even with their fancy high-tech computer algorithms, gone are the days when tens of millions of innocent families could be ambushed en mass by a single psy op political ad.
Todays social media platforms and late night talk show hosts are no doubt spewing a lot of Trump hate - and using high tech algorithms to do it. But they are only preaching to their own choirs; good luck influencing Trump supporters like me, who would never be caught dead watching their programs or visiting their web sites.
Social media is not the threat - its the public education system that is flushing our culture down the toilet. We dutifully send our children (grandchildren) off to school each day to be brainwashed by invariably Leftist teachers - social media is the least of our problems.
As long as we have the electoral college, 15 million votes diffused across the nation, a few in some districts, more in another doesn’t necessarily affect the national outcome.
Only if they are targeting swing states and are able to shift enough votes to flip them can they affect a presidential election.
This is what the drive for the national popular vote is about. Making it easier for these asshats to steal elections.
at least 15m people vote according to what the internet tells them... sadly, there are that many people who are such sheep.
Many states have election software from foreign countries and are counted by foreign countries. Texas’ votes are counted by Spain. I had these posted on FR once upon a time.
That is collusion.
This is why they want to go to the popular vote or delegitimize the election.
