Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin are mad Trump didn't shoot first and ask questions later
Washington Examiner ^ | June 24 2019 | Jack Hunter

The American Conservative Editor Jim Antle writes, "Thursday night was the night Donald Trump became president. You can imagine the hyperbolic hosannahs that would have been sung if Trump had gone ahead with his planned strikes against Iran, adding to the list of undeclared presidential wars. Instead he pulled back."

“Hyperbolic hosannahs,” indeed. Who might have led this pro-war chorus?

Conservative pundits Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin.

When President Trump decided not to strike after being informed it could potentially kill 150 civilians, he explained on Twitter, “10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not ... proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.”

A disappointed Shapiro tweeted in reply, “Disproportionate response to attacks on US assets are a good way of showing our enemies that we will mash them if they continue to escalate. The US doesn’t want war. You know who doesn’t want war even more? The ayatollahs who will find themselves quite dead if war occurs.”

In other words, “mash” them to show these pesky foreign countries we mean business, because such strategic military intervention including regime change has always worked out so well for us in the past (Thanks again, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton).

If it’s true we did a cyber attack on them, that was proportionate and intelligent.

If only Bush had done a secretive cyberattack on Saddam’s “WMD” facilities. We could have saved 4000 American lives, thousands of amputations (enough lost limbs to fill a warehouse), and upwards of $5 trillion of taxpayer dollars. And also, Bush wouldn’t have had to admit shame-facedly, after the fact, that he we were wrong about the WMDs - he could have shrugged and quietly let the whole thing pass.

Until the United States Military is used to stop the invasion of foreign nationals into our territory, no other use will be legitimate.

Well, that and Iraq would still be in the hands of a non-Jihadi. Unlike it’s current Iranian masters.

I am by no means a dove, but I’m no neo-con either. Not that the president cares, but I’m perfectly OK with his decision. While the Global Hawks are an expensive piece of hardware, they’re not worth the 150 or so lives that would have been taken in a strike on the air defense installation.

Our trump card in the Iranian situation is that the vast majority of the Iranian people hate the theocratic government of Iran and its heavy-handed use of the military. We’ve blown previous opportunities to encourage a counter-revolution and there’s no need to blow yet another one.

Levin should know better.
Shapiro is just a mental and physical midget.

In what other part of world history has the primary purpose of the military of one country be to fight the wars of another country..?

Cuz that IS what is going on.

Completely. This was just an attempt to lure him in to something we don’t support. And.. he is doing one better. Crank up the sanctions, they are working.

Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro

With Shapiro as a conservative it's no wonder the movement can't attract flies.

oh yeah, and saddam was murdering his own people, by the 1000’s, with wmds- and had violated many un rules- and was attacking our troops- when told to stop- he continued- he was a direct threat to our troops- but people say we shouldn’t have attacked, but turn around and say we should attack iran for shooting down an unmanned drone? I’m not understanding the logic here-

Trump made a military decision not to rush to war. Obama, on the other hand, bombed the snot out of Libya, handing a victory to al Qaeda. Then to tried but failed to overthrow Egypt, which would have handed it over to the Muslim Brotherhood. Then he went on to perpetuate a civil war in Syria, supporting the Jihadists who would declare Sharia Law and murder every Christian and Jew they could. He’s the one that got the Nobel Peace Prize.

Both are frauds; but Markie has had more practice at being a fraud. Bennie is just a little douche bag working his way up to the exalted fraud status of Markie.

Levin and Shapiro have both been well known to get frisky and occasionally rain down a storm of stoopit, despite their intelligence and hyperbole.

They’ve done it again. They make a living doing it.

Any military adventure this country undertakes should be to the benefit of this country. No more wars without profit! If we fight, we keep the land and it’s resources for ourselves. We are broke!

levin has been heard to say, “I’m OK with Trump; but I’ve got him on a short leash...”

I would call that delusional in the extreme! Nobody has DJT on any leash. That is what I appreciate most.

You express my thoughts exactly.

I do think Bush had no other choice in 2003. When every single intel source in the planet, including your own general who visited the Egyptians, Israelis, and Jordanians, ALL say there are WMDs there, just 2 years after 9/11 I don’t think Bush could have let it go.

As for a cyber attack, we would try this with Suxnet later and it came back to bite our own systems.

BUT, I think in this case Trump was right to be restrained, both on humanitarian grounds and on political grounds. Iran is a VERY tough nut to crack militarily. It’s nuke facilities are spread out everywhere, and it’s not the easiest country to invade. A better option might be to pull out of the Gulf altogether in terms of our Navy, especially since we are now energy sufficient. Let the Japanese pay for this.
