Abbas: We are ready to return to the negotiating table-no political solution with Trump

The PA president says 'there is no potential for a political solution' with Trump

Palestinians are ready to return to the negotiating table with Israel, but with two preconditions: the recognition of Israeli occupation of east Jerusalem and the “vision” of a two-state solution, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told foreign reporters in Ramallah on Sunday.

The Palestinian president said that he would not ask for anything outside of what is already prescribed by the international community as legitimate, including the most recent United Nations Resolution 2334.

Nonetheless, Abbas made it clear that despite his estranged relationship with the current US administration, the PA continues to coordinate with Washington on issues of security.

“The security coordination to date between us and the US administration – us and the CIA – remains, and we are not ashamed to say that,” Abbas told the foreign press. “The security coordination is to combat terrorism in the world. And we are the first people who wish to fight terrorism in the world, and therefore we have concluded agreements not only with the US administration but with 83 states in the world.

“We preserved this agreement because terrorism is an enemy of humanity,” he said.

Abbas concluded that the security coordination between Israel and the PA remains intact as well.

2334, the Obama resolution. Complete return to the 1949 lines, deport all Jews living in Judea and Samaria, destroy their homes. For a start, return East Jerusalem. No recognition of a Jewish state in the mideast. His starting and final position. He's right, there will be no political solution. Time for Abbas to move on, a 15 or 16 year, I forget, 4 year term is enough.

The universalism of Islam, in its all-embracing creed, is imposed on the believers as a continuous process of warfare, psychological and POLITICAL, if not strictly military. . . . The Jihad, accordingly, may be stated as a doctrine of a permanent state of war, not continuous fighting.”— Majid Khadduri

Almost sounds like the CIA and the Palestinians are on one team, and the US administration (Trump) is the other team.

Why negotiate with the Palis? It isn’t like they have ever kept to any agreement.
Cut off water and power until they pay their bills. Don’t allow anyone to exit Gaza or the West Bank into Israel for any reason.

If they really wanted to live in peace with the State of Israel, they could. They don’t.

Trump should offer the most effective possible deal to settle the problem.

We will never send you a dime, all of your accounts are frozen, whatever happens between you and the Israelis happens, and we will keep the United Nations out of it.

None of Kissinger's stupid crap which kept this going for half a century.

What a sense of irony. Thanks SJackson.

Sounds like someone has been getting advice from John Kerry and the democrats to wait out Trump and go back to fruitless no-win “ negotiations”

Israel is not “ occupying” East Jerusalem.
It is their capital.

The rest of the world is going to negotiate for them - and it will still never work until they get their own act together. Hamas and all the other groups needs to have their military wings clipped and a single political entity needs to rule with a monopoly on the use of force. They need a functioning criminal and civil justice system that prosecutes criminals and arbitrates civil disputes and shuts down militias that terrorize other countries and their own civilians.

No country on earth can really function without these basic things.
