Reality - for kids that have gone from k-12 in the US - we have invested $120K. If they get sent back, we get nothing from that investment. If they have a clean record, I have no problem putting them on a path to citizenship.

While it sounds reasonable, a k-12 US education is not worth squat.let then go back and improve where they came from. Call it foreign aid.

Not necessarily. If they go back and improve the sh#$ hole from which they came, so that they don't continue to flood our country, I'd consider that a good investment.
Additionally, it sends a clear message. No matter what cutesy/emotional name our elitist media and (D)'s give to any portion of the foreign nationals here illegally, you will not get a pass, your kids will not get citizenship, you will not be rewarded.
The message must be clear. No reward for unlawful activity.
Give these kids citizenship, and they will petition for their parents! You watch. +1 "dreamer" becomes +2 or more citizens (parents, siblings still in the home country, grandparents) because congress will change the law from granting green cards to citizenship.

um, I think I am not interested in them sponsoring the parents who brought them here without permission & giving them citizenship. And ditto for the elder relatives still back home in the mothership, eligible for S.Sec and Medicare.

We get something back from that investment if we send them back. They will have the ability to help solve their country’s economic and political problems.
