The press is not the leakers. They simply published what leakers gave them. The sources need to be found, charged with treason, convicted, and hanged. We need to put some serious fear into people to no leak operational information, to not leak.

In this particular case, that’s probably not the motivation - I’m sure it’s the usual bureaucratic sedition we’ve come to know and love over the past couple of years. But in general it is not safe to assume the press is behaving in unimpeachable fashion.

Every source with which a secret is shared exponentially increases the likelihood that confidentiality will be breached. Secrets are only safe with the dead. Keeping secrets is a monumental task, hence the concept of “need to know”. That’s why the operational rank and file who execute the plan are necessarily kept in the dark until the last possible moment.
