Salem, Ore. - Gov. Kate Brown on Thursday authorized Oregon State Police to round up GOP senators who have staged a walkout in protest of the cap-and-trade energy conservation bill.

"The Senate Republicans have decided to abandon their duty to serve their constituents and walk out," Brown said in a statement.

No its not. You have a job to do, you take the pay check... you are a public servant, not only did you take the job, you campaigned and worked asked people to give it to you...

DO your damn job!

If you don’t show up to do this particular job, guess what, its completely legal for the law to come and get you.

Governor isn’t breaking any laws, or setting any precedents here.

Do the job you were elected to do.

Its WRONG when the dems do it, its wrong when the GOP does it....

It wasn’t thuggery when the Wisconsin Governor threatened this, its not thuggery when the Oregon governor does this.

WRONG is WRONG, and these GOP folk are wrong to be doing this... Period.

Do your job.

Does she also order them how to vote?

My understanding is that it doesn't matter whether they vote or not, or which way they vote. The Demos have the vote all locked up. They just need the bodies there for the headcount, to meet quorum requirements. If they can get them in the building, it doesn't matter what they do: sleep, eat, read, play board games. If they're present, quorum is achieved and the vote will go down.

Nope, just have no patients or time for stupidity, regardless of the party affiliation of the person engaging in it.

Look, I agree with you in principle that the tactic was originally wrong. However, the cat is out of the bag...either we lose on principle or we start fighting dirty. Our opponents opened this door. You can hang your hate on “principle” while our country goes to the toilet or you can embrace reality and fight back.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t aware of the procedural rules for a quorum involved in this. Even so it seems strange that the Gov. would have the authority to send out the police to bring them back.

I love how people hated the klansmen(Rats) did this in WI back then, but are cheering the Rs in Oregon doing the same thing. I am in 100% agreement with you on this. Those Rs need to go back.

The most peaceful and logical long term solution is for western California, western Oregon, and western Washington to form their own liberal nation. We get the eastern parts. Everyone can live by their own values.

We’ve been asking for some people on our side to show some spine. This is peaceful and the Dems do it all the time. But people here want them to be bootlickers when that is what our side has always done.

We are this far from civil war for a reason. These actions do not take us further in that direction.

Did you read the article?

I did.

It will really hurt business

That's not relevant as to why Republicans in OR refuse to stand on principle and educate the voters rather than tucking tail.

Speak your peace, cast your vote, and live with the consequences.

bs. If you’re a citizen of Oregon, vote them out. If you don’t like the quorum rule, vote for a constitutional amendment. Btw, both things would only benefit the Democrats, not the downtrodden conservatives of Oregon. Perhaps that’s what you really want...?

Their job is to represent their constituents. If running away or doing anything else like that represents their constituents that’s what they should do. If their constituents jobs and livelihoods are on the line you do whatever you have to do.

They are educating the voters that’s why you’re reading about this.

I swear to Christ I just heard some of the most moronic arguments on this thread ever. It’s akin to agreeing to walk into the gas chamber “on principle”. Moronic. With this kind of thinking Morsi would still be the president of Egypt and the Ukraine would still be ruled by Russians. You fight with whatever means you have at your disposal.

BS.

By your measure, by being elected, would justify them killing their political enemies to stop a bill they don’t agree with.

They are representatives, they are sent to the capital to represent, and that’s the nature of politics, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you aren’t representing anyone by RUNNING AWAY from the capital.

This is abhorrent and despicable behavior, just as much so when the GOP do it as when the Dems do it.... To hell with all of the cowards.

"The Senate Republicans have decided to abandon their duty to serve their constituents and walk out," Brown said in a statement.

The RATs decided they could pass this without Repub support.

Let them do so.
