Salem, Ore. - Gov. Kate Brown on Thursday authorized Oregon State Police to round up GOP senators who have staged a walkout in protest of the cap-and-trade energy conservation bill.

"The Senate Republicans have decided to abandon their duty to serve their constituents and walk out," Brown said in a statement.

Our system is based on a representative government.

The only criteria where Representatives should leave their post is when they go back to their representatives and decide if they should storm the capital with guns in-tow. Other than that, bite the bullet in respecting the voters/cards that have been dealt. Only democrats like fleeing cowards, Republicans should stand and fight like men.

When Governor Walker was elected in Wisconsin, the ‘Rats in our Senate hit the road and ran away to Illinois because they didn’t want to sigh Act X, which busted up the unions in our state.

It didn’t work. And they’ve been losing BADLY in WI ever since. MAGA! :)

"The cap-and-trade bill should be referred to voters, they said."

"swing both ways" kate brown knows should the bill be referred to voters, it will be quickly shot down.

They took their cue from the WISCONSIN DEMOCRATS. Funny, then the media cheered the absent legislators’ bold move.

Indiana dems left the state over Right to Work

They then lost the House and the Speaker lost his district, ushering in a Republican supermajority that has lasted since

To understand this, know that the Oregon Senate has a supermajority of Democrats and have shot down every Republican attempt to modify this disastrous climate change cap n trade bill, even refusing to refer it out to the voters. The Republicans have NO OTHER card to play in this, to keep this bill from becoming law, than to deny the Legislature a quorum.

If they’re smart, they’d be in Idaho now.

Our system is based on a representative government.

Not any more. Our system is based on two wolves and one sheep voting on what will be for dinner.

"By any means necessary" is what the Leftists say and do. That is why they win. Time for us to play by the same rules.

What comes around, goes around, except I doubt that Republicans will do millions of dollars of damage to their state capitol building. Only demented Democrats resort to that.

What is a quorum for the Oregon Senate?

If they’ve left the state, she can’t do a thing except maybe call for special elections.

If she drags enough back and somehow forces them to be ‘present’, then a quorum is established and the state democrats vote their way.

As it is now, without a quorum, the state dems can’t vote. They need a quorum. Doesn’t matter if the state gop members vote or not, must have a quorum to call a vote.

By most constitutions, legislators can be compelled to attend a legislative session.

Thank you for the explanation. I didn’t realize that it involved a procedural matter. Is it legal to have the cops forcibly bring them in?

“...reaping the voter’s consequences.”
The republican senators wanted to put the Cap & Trade bill to the voters and the democrats said no.
Bear in mind that Oregon voters are dumb asses.

Well said! I’ve been saying the same thing on these threads as well. Just vote no, and explain to the idiots what’s in store for them.
