Alabama Republican Roy Moore has announced he is running for U.S. Senate again in 2020 after failing to win the seat two years ago amid sexual misconduct accusations.

Moore announced his campaign Thursday, seeking an eventual rematch against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones. The announcement upends an election viewed by Republicans as a top priority in 2020 and ignores President Donald Trump's warning that he "cannot win."

That is some real stupidity there on display.

Any other candidates the Fake News doesn’t like which won’t get your vote? Were you begging Judge K to withdraw his name, too?

One incapable of seeing this whole set-up was a fraud from start to finish doesn’t pay much attention to real things. Once the name, Gloria Alred, gets revealed even the blind, deaf, dumb and idiotic knows it is NOTHING but a fraud.

False. Sexual harassment is lawfully defined.

Don't be an @$$. Yes, we all know that the legal system has definitions for all sorts of crap including "sexual harassment", but in the defacto real world the difference between you sexually harassing a woman and flirting with her is whether she likes you or not.

If you do not understand this, I am sorry for your lack of real world experience in these matters.

Unfortunately, communication is a huge part of running a campaign. Therein lies the reason Roy is challenged as a candidate.

Yes, I was a bit disappointed in his inability to think like a politician. Trump does it effortlessly, and many of the really good politicians would have never gotten themselves trapped in such a situation.

So Moore isn't particularly good as a politician, but he's got something I would really like to see in the Senate. A willingness to tell Federal Judges to go F*** themselves when they are wrong on a matter of law.

Guts, and a willingness to stand up for what you believe even when the rest of the world is against you.

but you know he was not sniffing around teen girls? Are you Roy Moore? Otherwise you don’t know.

So if neither one of you know he has to be guilty?

Moral people do not respect laws simply because they are the "law of the land".

So then if slavery was morally wrong, and I think we can all agree on that, then ignoring the law, say like declaring all slaves used to support the ongoing rebellion "are, and henceforward shall be free" was a morally correct action and one you believe was justified?

How many times did the voters reject Trump in a REAL election?

No comparison with one who has repeatedly tried not just talked about it.

Moore’s utility now is as an example of how to drive decent people out of politics not as a favored candidate.

What was done to him was deplorable but you can’t unring that bell.

It’s sort of a package deal.

Actually it isn't. It's two charges of a serious nature, conflated with a bunch of ho-hum claims of dating 18 and 19 year old women.

Only the two accusations are serious, and when we examine them, we find all sorts of red flags in both claims.

The fact he dated these young women added a creep factor and showed he had issues.

Wouldn't be a creep factor without those other serious charges giving it weight.

The fact he did not confidently defend himself may have led some people to believe he did the things he was accused of.

Yes, he didn't do a very good job in dealing with this, but I think this is because he's not a professional politician, and doesn't know how to side step these sorts of "gotcha" attacks.

It has nothing to do with the media. Moore is a loser.

I see that I am conversing with someone who has no grasp of how politics in the USA work.

Nowadays, politics is all about the media. Without it the Democrats are toast. With it, they mount effective campaigns against common sense policies and people.

American politics revolve around the media. I wish it weren't so, but it is.

“Jeff Sessions would be better than Roy Moore.”

Are you referring to the cowardly little worm that blessed the nation with the Mueller probe?

I meant that Roy exhibited a clear lack of passion in defending himself against that smear.

Yes, he didn't do "politics" right. A more seasoned politician would have been filled with righteous indignation, because they can call it up at a moment's notice.

But, it has nothing to do with the media. Moore is a loser, because the media said so.

Eastasia has always been our ally. We have always been at war with Eastasia.

I sympathize with him, because of the low gutter tactics the Dems used on him last time. But he ought to try for a different post. He’s good for what he’s good for, and that ain’t the Senate.

Sure, if we are lucky we will nominate another RINO to the Senate. I for one would prefer someone who stands up for what they believe. Shame on those Freepers who appear to have passed judgement on Mr. Moore based on the lies of women with zero credibility. It seems okay today to falsely accuse anyone who admits to being a Christian. As far as Mo Brooks goes I would trust a snake in the grass before I would him. But go ahead and assist them dems with their media lies and we will get another do nothing week-in-the-knees republican senator who will kiss McConnell’s ring and forget his constituents until the next election. I for one would much prefer Roy Moore.

Moore is an imperfect candidate. No argument from me. But then, how "perfect" was Trump? How "perfect" would any of our FRiends be? Moore could have done better, but he remains a reliably and staunchly conservative voice at a time when America needs such voices desperately to join the chorus. I suspect, this go around, Moore will be looking for vindication and do better. We'll see what he shows to Alabama during the race. Ultimately Alabama decides, and I do hope Alabamans will rally around the Republican candidate, especially if that candidate is Moore.

so he did NOT pick up/try to pick up girls at the Gadsden Mall??? You know this?

I do. I was keeping up with all the accusations and refutations at the time, and this particular lying smear was promulgated by a woman who's son Moore Convicted. Other people from the mall have come forward to say this smear is untrue, but the media didn't run any statements from them.

Bear in mind, nobody at the mall today was there in the 1970s, and there are no written records of "Moore cruising the mall trying to pick up girls." Bear in mind that this lying witch reporter who works for the Washington Post (Stephanie McCrummen) was fishing for dirt from any source she could find, and Debbie Gibson (one of the women who claims to have dated Moore as a teenager) was helping to find this dirt. The source of this smear is a particular woman who spread it to get back at Moore for convicting her son and sentencing him to prison.

I've been trying to locate that story, but have had no success so far. I have found variations of this story though.

i’m not saying that. but it’s a 50/50 shot. OP seems to think he knows what went down. Only RM and the girls in question do.

The next Senator from Alabama only needs to do two things.

1. Vote correctly on Trump’s USSC picks,
2. Vote correctly on Trump’s federal court picks.

Nothing! & I mean nothing else matters!!!

He can be a complete buffoon or baboon on everything else!

Yes the courts are that important!

I’m not disputing the vapidity of the ‘reasoning’ or their justification. I’m merely being my usual pedantic self and commenting that ‘due process’ is not something one should expect from bedwetting RINOs of no moral conviction (except sucking at the public tit and milking taxpayers for everything they can)

I have my own reasons for somewhat disliking Moore, which are of no import.

“is this fair to Moore”?

My dad once told me “’Fair’ is a place you go to ride ponies and eat cotton candy, son”
