That should not be considered a given principle for all time. We have only had attempts at universal sufferance for the last 100 years or so.

I am not convinced that it has worked very well. We should consider alternatives.

• Imaginary people should not vote.
• Dead people should not vote.
• 16 year-olds should not vote.
• Non-citizens should not vote.
• Criminals serving a prison sentence or on parole should not vote
• Government employees at the Federal, State, Municipal, and County level (excepting Military personnel) should not vote.
• Private-sector employees whose employers depend primarily on Government contracts should not vote.

  Feel free to add appropriate categories to the exclusion or inclusion list.
